Unfortunately, this is from doctors in the UK. 'Take these pills (5mg Librium 3 times a day) and don't drink with them.'

Followed by (a week later) 'He has a bad attitude, he doesn't want to stop drinking.'

The truth is that 5mg Librium will not touch alcohol withdrawal symptoms and it is quite normal to use 30mg 4 times a day at the start of a detox in order to stop withdrawal symptoms occurring. 5mg 3 times a day is not enough to prevent a fatal reaction from alcohol withdrawal and this is DOCTORS we are talking about, sending people away at risk of dying!

On a lighter note, how about this one?:

'Every time you feel the need to drink, have a glass of water.' Yes, I really have heard that one.

You're my daughter and you're not allowed a drink problem.

If you haven't got a drink problem, stop.  If you have got a drink problem, stop now.

    Smoke weed instead.

You should cut down, and only drink at the pub with me.
