Leukoctyoclastic vasculitis

Hi all, over the last 6 months I have had elevated white cells and was recently diagnosed with leukoctyoclastic vasculitis.  I am still waiting for an appointment with a rheumatologist however am concerned with my fortnightly blood tests.  Each time there is a different diagnoses with levels up and down.  I have had mild leukocytosis, moderate lymphs, now high neuts.  Is it normal for these to alter without any medication.  The entire time the WCCs have been elevated.

    Hi Deb,

    Leukocytoclastic vasculitis, also called hypersensitivity vasculitis, describes inflammation of small blood vessels. The term leukocytoclastic refers to the debris of neutrophils (immune cells) within the blood vessel walls.

    Yes, blood tests can alter without medication...exposure to the flu, being run down, lacking enough sleep, stress, and more effect the way our bodies function.

    The great news is that a doc is monitoring your blood tests during the interim before you see a rheumy. If something goes amiss, it will be caught immediately.

    How did they diagnose with LCV? Just by high WBC count? 

    This is usually done by skin biopsy. 

    There are many kinds of LCV ..... HSP or Cryoglobunemia or something else ? 

    Which LCV is yours ?

    High WBCs and neutrophils is likely from infections or from benign or malignant neoplasia (tumors) . You might want to check with an infectious diseases specialist along with the rheumatologist for LCV.
