Levothyrox

I know for certain that the medication that I am taking is made by Merck Serono. How many of you are taking the same one? A different one?  Or even worse, don't even know which one they are taking?

Just looked at mine and they are distributed by Mercury Pharma let us see how many companies distribute or manufacture these levothyroxine drugs out of interest.? I hear they cost £4 a month to the NHS.I am on 100mcgs.

I am on 100mcgs as well. My meds contain monohydrate lactose, corn starch, gelatine, sodium croscarmellose and magnesium stearate .( i am pretty certain the contents have changed since I started taking it about 10 months ago !) but I feel better now than I did when I first started taking it. They cost 2 euros 70 for 30.

Ours are around £4 for 28 tablets, I nearly always get the mercury pharma ones at our surgery, perhaps it is best to stick with one manufacturer,I will be aware if mine changes. I am pleased you feel better, I do think I am on the mend as well,I have a lovely lady doctor and I am sure she does her best for me but it is a long wait to be monitored for the next blood test I feel ,last time she said I was fine.

Mylan in california. 2 am. What time is it there. Been reading a bunch of stuff about shortages and prices going up for certain manufacturers. Quality control issues causing a couple manufacturers to quit. Can u imagine if u were new and getting your medicine from a recall manufacturer. Yikes!!! Read something about plus or minus 10% on levothyroxine quality. Some people prefer synthroid. My first doctor said it was more stable but it made me sick...  . Read something on different fillers used and peoples reactions for prescriptions above 50. Been responding to your discussions a lot lately. My name is al. Nice corresponding with u

I think it 's comforting to know we're not alone. I have a friend who has been on levo for more than 30 years and I only found out when i had all my problems! She has absolutely no side effects whatsoever!

It is also comforting to know that one does not die from hypothyroidism but adjustments to one's lifestyle do have to be made sometimes.

Still remember the first few months undiagnosed hyper. Thought I was invincible. Then I started shaking a lot at work. My job thought I was a tweeker and sent me for a drug test. The doc knew just looking at me

It is 10.30am in the UK . I have only been on them since xmas gone, I have to take them last thing at night to ward off side effects and find lately that I can cope and dont have the spaced out feeling as much as I did. It seems on reading patient.info stories from all over the UK about thyroid problems, everyone equates taking levothyroxine for a multitude of disorders as well as high or low thyroid output. I would hope that some of them are not related to the drug,I try to think of them as a boost to my system and forget I am on them most of the time. In general as we get older like a car things wear out become stiffer and slower , a lot of folk also seem to have depression and lack of vitamin D and palpitations but were these symptoms there before taking Levo? I wonder.

Some are and some arent. My first doctor told me that i would need some type of steroid eventually for muscles and ohmega 3 or fish oil for joints. Been on it 12 years. Im 45 now and im just now taking chia seeds for ohmega 3 since I dont want the mercury in fish oil. My ligaments arent as strong. Had to quit playing basketball and volleyball till I lose enough weight to compensate for the weakness. But ive abused my body with working construction electrician and playing sports. My mom and sister have thyroid condition. My moms 86 . Weak but still trucking. My sisters 65 and had the swelling in her legs and knees but thats cause she decided she didnt want to take as much medicine and went to long between checkups. I got on her case and most of the swelling has gone away. But with this drug everyones journey is a little different. I like carols discussions cause it seems like shes really doing the research.

The hypothyroidism is responsible for the lack of vitamin D  and the depression. The palpitations are caused by the levo while your body is adjusting to the dose but if you're still getting palpitations after three months on the same dosage i would say the dose is too high!

Make sure you drink enough and don't drink too much coffee. Green tea is better for you.

Ya. This stuff plays with your emotions. Went from mr macho to crying at disney movies. I just use logic and reasoning to get through onsets of any depression. Sometimes remembering good times. Sometimes thinkung of future good times.

Insurance pays the whole thing for me but I think its like 20 bucks last time I paid for it. Was reading people paying 38 depending on manufactures supply and also the pharmacy u get it from. But thats in america.

I don't pay for mine either but it is interesting to know how much the manufact

urers are charging because for a lot of them it is ONLY a business. I saw that people were charging 70$00 for a box of Armour! What a rip off!

That explains why people are better off taking them last thing in the evening, usually people have finished eating by 8pm and taken most meds by then too. So the levothyroxine has no interference from other drugs or food.

This is where you have to adjust your life-style. I don't know what you normally have for breakfast but you should eat a BIG breakfast ,that way, little by little ,you will  get into the habit of making breakfast your most important meal. I have, for example, 3 slices of wholemeal bread toasted with marmalade  (no butter). Coffee with skimmed milk and a piece of fruit. That could be cereal instead of toast but you need to favour those which don't have a high sugar content. Weetabix , maybe? and  some people eat a yoghurt as well!
