Hi , I have had thyroid problems for 10 years now but since getting pregnant 21 months ago my problem has got worse! I was already tired enough with numerous thyroid related issues such as weight gain, lethargy swollen glands etc now I am taking 225mcg of Levothyroxine but my levels are are still not right! I am so sick of feeling like I do I am finding it hard to go to work and look after my family, Also at present my knee joint are very bad as are my muscles in my legs I am waiting to see a specialist for this I am convinced it is due to my condition.

I had to have my tonsils out last month as they were permanently swollen and because of my goiter it was restricting my airways.

I pick up every illness on the go due to my slow immune system

I feel as though I will never be right again.

Anybody got any light to share for me ?

Please please please xx

Angie (very fed up)

I can relate to your experience. I have always felt that Levo does nothing for me, but seems to be much worse since my pregnancies. I, too, had to have my tonsils out, but that was when I was 12 (I am now 37). At the same time as I had my tonsil operation, my blood pressure went up to 180 over 120, and heart rate to about 150. They discovered that my thyroid was overactive. They could never regulate it with medication, and finally decided to burn out my thyroid with radioactive iodine. They burned out too much, and since the age of 15, my thyroid has been underactive.

This past year, I have become desperate. I have gained 25 pounds since January. For a brief while, I went off Levo and promptly lost 5 pounds. I tried a different brand of Levo, and gained them back. I am desperate and don't know what to do. I am going to demand seeing a specialist.

One of the things that I do find is that when I find the energy to exercise, I can lose weight. I barely eat, but increasing the amount of meals that I do eat, also causes significant change.

I have had Hashymoto's disease (resulting from underactive thyroid), which plays terrible tricks on the mind and makes you feel like you've gone crazy. The short-term memory, irrational thoughts, depression, dry-mouth, and lethargy are enough to drive one mad. I know that I need medication, but it's 6 of one and half-dozen of the other. My weight has ballooned over the years, and there is only so much a heart can take, too. How do you make the choice of being sane or having a heart attack?

I have heard of a pill called Armour in the US. Any experiences with this? I am willing to travel if I can't find it here just to finally feel like I am on the right track, if it works.
