Hello im not sure how I'm suppose to feel right now because i know everybodys body is different but maybe someone will have a similar situation. So i was on 10 mg of lexapro for about 3 months and about two weeks ago my doctor upped me to 15mg because i was starting to have slight anxiety return to me, so im currently on 15 right now and still feeling a lingering anxiety for a couple days i was feeling normal then bam it came back to me. My doctors said when she upped me to 15mg that i might end up needing the 20mg. Does it take awhile to even out after upping a dosage?

Hi Nikole, I’m on 15mg too and when I was bumped up from 10 to 15 it took about 4-6 weeks for full effect! I’ve been on 15mg for nearly two years and I feel fine! Some days I can still wake up with a tiny feeling of anxiety but it soon wears off as I accept what it is!

Good luck on your journey, I feel this is a great med as I wouldn’t function without it! I was tried on citalopram first but it didn’t work for me!

How long did it take to get some breaks from the anxiety. I am at 15 days on 10mgs of Lexapro. I know everyone is different. I just need some hope other than vistaril or diazepam

I’m curious, since you’ve been on lexapro 2 years have you had weight gain?  Over the last few years I’ve lot 50lbs and don’t want to gain it all back on lexapro🙁

Hi Teena, I lost about 14lbs until I settled on the meds but have put some back on but not all but I have to watch what I eat so as I don’t gain too much.

I personally don’t think it’s the meds, I just think where we weren’t eating (mine mainly due to nausea and loss of appetite) due to the anxiety as soon as I felt well again then the nausea went and so my appetite came back so continually have to be careful.

Just try and eat healthy with the odd treat and you should be fine. Hope this helps 😊

Thanks for the reply!  I will continue to watch what I’m eating and hope and pray I can keep the weight off!

Yes it takes about 4 -6 weeks sometimes a little longer. I’m on 15 just went up to 17.5 and anxiety came back. Yet I know it’s not permanent my body has to get used to it. I know it’s a pain waiting for it to kick in. In this world of instant gratification kind of mind blowing. But hanging in there it will get better.

In mental health time 14 days is nothing. You need at least 30 to feel results sometimes even longer. Have faith that always tomorrow will be a better day. Be patient everyone wants to give up after a few side effects but it will be worth it in the end. Always think positive about your situation. Exercise everyday even when you don’t want to. Which is probably every day like me. Yet I always push myself to walk or push my mower to get my daily exercise. Keep well hydrated in the summer thick blood can cause anxiety too. Good luck and God bless...

I've been taking 5 mg for over 3 weeks now, and I feel like I've started to see a bit of improvement just the last few days. Yesterday was actually a good day for most of the day. I am still having insomnia and stomach troubles though; not sure if those are from side effects or from my anxiety, since I had both before I switched meds :-).

Good to hear. I hit 2 weeks today would love to see improvement in another week. Did you take any benzodiazepines when it got bad

No, I haven't taken any benzos yet. When I started Citalopram 5 years ago, I had to take one every night along with trazadone in order to sleep. I'm hoping by increasing the dosages slower on the escitalopram that just the trazadone will be enough :-).
