Lexapro and morning anxiety

Hi does anyone find their anxiety is significantly higher in the mornings? Have been on Lexapro for 2 weeks now (1 week @5mg then 1 week @10mg.)

I find the morning anxiety awful upon waking, with racing thoughts and every problem even small ones seem overwhelming to the point of feeling nauseous. Will this subside? Dr has given me Diazepam which I find I'm taking every morning. Im new to Lexapro after previously being on Prozac and Mirtazapine (which I hated and asked Dr to change) although I still take 7.5mg at.night for sleep. Just want to feel normal again and wake up looking forward to the day and feeling positive about things rather than the dread I have now sad

    day 4 of Lexapro 5mg.

just wanted to say this thread is giving me hope. yesterday started off horribly and by the end of the night was feeling a lot better. woke up this morning with the horrible anxiety back and a tremors. feeling like some horrible version of ground hogs day.

i definitely dont have the energy to go out and be social, but worry when i finally get better ill be some sort of hermit or develop social anxiety. anyone else experience this?

    hi

looking for advice i was started on lexapro for post partum anxiety. i was started at 2.5 then 5 and now 7.5 because im super senstiive to medications. ever since starting the medicine i have horrible morning anxirty especially adound 5/6am for some reason. i take it right before bed but have also tried taking it like 8pm. the doctor also just prescribed klonopin but i have a 3 month old and im afraid of being drowsy especially when i have to be up with him. its been 2 weeks since starting the meds and just constant horrible anxiety. took klonopin last night and still woke up 6am with panic that lasted four hours . and feel groggy. any words of advice or a light on the horizon?

    Hi Alex,

This is EXACTLY what is going on with me!

I started taking Lexapro again after being off of it for a month (prior to this I was on it for about five years and it worked wonders).

Two weeks ago I started on 5 mg, and last week I started 10 mg. My doctor has recommended that I up the dosage to 15 mg tomorrow night.

Morning anxiety has been THE WORST! It starts with me waking up around 4-5 am and not being able to go back to sleep. Anxious feeling in my chest as soon as I start to doze off, randing thoughts/images coming to my mind as I try to ease my mind, and then worrying all morning about this anxiety and ruminating over whether it will ever go away.

History has told me that this medicine has helped me before, and, as such, I try to be optimistic that it will help me again. But anxiety is at an all time high, that sometimes I feel I am losing my mind.

Have you done anything to help with morning anxiety? The only thing that helps for me is going for walks and staying active.

    Sending light and well wishes.
