Lexapro Short Term

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone has any experience or thoughts on taking Lexapro for just a few months. Really just need something to get me through a tough time and would prefer not to be on meds long term. This obviously depends on if the meds actually work or not and I am feeling back to myself, but plan is to wean off after about 2-3 months.

    Hi Matt

I've been on Lexapro for 5-6 years, no notible side effects. It usually take 4-6 weeks to reach he full effect of the medication - I don' know how that works for your timeline of 2-3 months. Usually antidpressants are prescribed for 6 month or more. I hope this works for you.

Lexpro has worked beautifully for me with regards to anxiety symptoms.  You may want to keep on a lower dosage, give it at least 6 months to truly work, and maintain close contact with your prescribing doctor.  good luck smile
