Lexipro for anxiety?

Hi I'm Luna and I've been diagnosed with panic disorder and a little bit of PTSD along with all the other fun stuff that comes with GAD (anxiety) I recently saw a psychiatrist today and she prescribed me lexipro I was wondering if anyone had any kind of reviews on any kind of medication that helps best with anxiety as I'm deathly afraid of side effects or anything of that nature. She started me out at 5mg due to my concern but was just wondering if it will do any good? Thanks

I am on other med not lexapro. But lexapro has good rep and helpped many people. Yes you will have side effects but think of it as this, your anxiety is ruining your life so it worth to be crap for few weeks in order to benefit from the med.

The main 2 side effect that bothers us are increasing in anxiety and nausea. Those should go after a week or 2. I think your dose will be 10mg so when you increase the dose you will have little side effect again, mainly increase in anxiety. The benefit from the med will start to show around week 3 and it will gradually will get better and up an down unit it reached the full effect btween 6 to 8 weeks.

Meds won't do do it all for u tho I tried loven 1st n that had no effect so dr put me on lexapro. I go to counselling to. I stopped work for 6 months also no driving or going out but I felt guilty to my kids! So I put myself in uncomfortable positions yes I'd sweat, shake, get dizzy, feel like I was gonna die or pass out but did I? No! Drive everyday even if it's up the street n back then next week around the block and so on.... my fear of driving was I'd pass out lol never have tho!!!! The more u try n ignore the symptoms and keep doing things the more anxiety will give up! The more u give into anxiety the more power u give!
