Liberated!

According to my hip wizzard of a consultant I am also off the hook at 5 weeks.Whooooooooo!!!!!!

I didn't post earlier because my partner and I have been out celebrating and after a couple of wines I am squinting writing this, so apologieseles.

So, yes, first THR on June 30th 15 and leftie on 12th feb 16. Oh it's been tough, hasn't it? Yes, it has.

I never planned for rubbish hips, it was shhhocking, and so bl**dy painful.

The Hip Wizzard said I am "perfectly symetrical" as he gazed at my neon x-ray. I have a matching, glowing pair of 'Trinity' cups and 'Metafix' stems. He said the what was left of the cartilage looked as if it had been scooped out with a melon baller (slightly nicer than the raggedy tattered mess in the first one). I am glad they are gone, I was crippled.

The restrictions were laid out - no impact sports, no running, no pivoting, no twisting, ever, never and neither that funny leggy uppy knee outy thingy.

At this point I explained that I was dismissed from work (children, small, 3-4 years, active job, pivoting, dancing, running, impact stuff) and was trying to claim my pension.

He then did something to nearly get himself a hug - he dictated a letter, there and then, that put the pensions crew firmly on the losing side.

I wanted to hug him, he's a genius but he's shorter than me, it might have got awkward.

I held his hand instead. He patted my arm and said "You didn't smile when I first met you"

I tripped over my stick and we both smiled.

We agreed to a virtual interview  in My Clinical Outcomes to review my progress in 12 months and then I skipped off into the sunset.....well. no I didn't, I hobbled off because I had been sat for too long and my bum was numb.

Freedom calls.......

I keep trying to explain this one but it's difficult without seeing it and I keep getting it wrong.

It's basically, when you lift your leg upwards, never turn your knee outwards (or inwards) and then your foot up or outwards,  as it puts an amazing amount of pressure on the joint. I used this movement a lot when sitting on the floor as I used to sit in a kneeling position but then slide my knees and legs out to side

Vive la libération!  Many congratulations, mwah!

Ouch, ouch, ouch!  Just looking at that position is making my hip scream in protest eek

Your hip wizard of a consultant sounds such a sweetie and very understanding.  Here's hoping you get your pension.  It sounds as though the powers that be will have no excuse to withhold it now.

I hope you're not going to leave us now Kate.  Your contributions to this forum have been uplifting, funny and helpful, and you have been a particular friend to me.  I do get the feeling you'll stick around though. We'll all want to know "What Katy Did Next".  You may be too young to have heard of those books but they were a great read in my childhood.

A great big WHOOP WHOOP from me cheesygrin

He isn't really a sweetie, Cels, he was quite grumpy sometimes but I forgave him because he's so clever and he came up trumps with the on-the-spot killer pension letter.

I will stick around. I have become fond of this site and the people who have helped me on my journey and who have become new friends (I read all the Katy books btw).

I love our 'Hip Squad' and wondered if other forums are like this one, is there a Kidney Club, League of Lung Disease a  or an Ingrowing Toenail Society?

      Whooping as well xxxxxx
