Lichen medication when trying to conceive

Hi, so I've had lichen schlerosis for a couple of years. The treatment I found worked for me was amitriptyline and steroid cream. We are now trying to conceive and I read online that amitriptyline isn't safe during pregnancy so I went to the Gp to ask today. All he said was take it if the risks outweigh the benefits but couldn't tell me what the risks are. He also said I could switch to piriton which seems odd to me? Anyone had experience of medications for this during trying to conceive or pregnancy please?
