I hope you're seeing a consultant dermatologist and not just your GP. Steroids seem to be the best and only treatment .mabybe a different one would helpl.

Sounds awful. Hope your GP gets you an earlier  appointment with the specialist. Some creams are better than others . Lichen planus can clear up by itself so don't despair. Look at some of the cases of this website.

So sorry you are having such a bad time. It seems to me everyones experiences of LP/OLP are different so it is difficult to compare what works for one person with what works for someone else. As said elsewhere on the forum, avoiding soaps and irritants seems to be improtant for everyone and steroids either by cream or tablets or injection aims to reduce the inflammation. My mouth gets sore but I haven't experienced much in the way of pain from my skin LP except from one small area at the beginning. I thought then that the area may have become infected as pain can be a symptom of skin infections, I would recommend getting your doctor  to check for that. The other thing I would suggest is talk to your GP about pain control as I really think that needs to happen and no one should be left crying in pain.

I do hope this settles for you.

    Good luck.

I feel your pain, its frustrating as Doctors seem to clueless. I've had it for years, steriod cream didn't work for me either.  I worked out that Antihistamines, like benadryl anti allergy capsules were the only thing that stopped the itchiness.  And a week in the sun clears mine up, or sunbeds.  I going to give vitamin D tablets a go as well, because I'm convinced its something to do with not enough vitamin D.  Hope this helps.
