Lichen Planus

Just wondering if anyone thought this disease has always been laying dormant in your body and something triggered it? I really think I've had it all of my life. Whenever I would sit to try and figure out some stuff, I can remember being told about a birth mark. Well over the years the same looking stuff started to show up other places. I started noticing spots on the bottom of my feet and inside of my hands as well as inside of my mouth. it wasn't all at once though. Within months of having some dental work done I started to really see changes in the spots. Just wondering

Hello Patricia4 Yes I think that is possible. For me I believe extreme stress & genetics were the initial start up. But I have 5 root canals that I'm sure if I could remove, my health would improve! They cost twice as much to remove as they did to put in! ugh!

Yes I agree. I'm thinking very hard about having the procedure done to have the fillings taken out. even that has been a problem. Just to get the insurance to pay I have got prove that it had caused health issues. That has been a headache, but I'm gonna keep trying though. thank you and good luck

Hey, mine vanished after I removed 4-5 amalgam fillings and replaced them with composite resin. Completely healed my oral lichen planus in a couple of months with no recurrence.

I think it's a disease with multiple causes. But the material used in dentistry is highly suspect IMO. And dental professionals are clueless. Not one of them told me it could be the cause, I had to find out myself through googling exhaustively.

Patricia, just about every disease known to humans is dormant somewhere out there, whether in nature, or already in our own body. For example, I have read that every healthy individual produces around 1,000 Cancer cells a day, but luckily for most of them, the defenses of the immune system are there to flush them out before they can organize and form solid tumors. Shingles is another example of a disease that can lay dormant deep in the nervous system, waiting for an opportunity/weakness to cause a damaging outbreak. And we could go on and on...

But to come back to the subject of LP and other forms of similar rashes that are often categorized more generally as "Atopic dermatitis" or "Eczema", scientists are only starting to understand what is more likely to be behind them : Colonization of the host skin by toxic and hard-to-beat bacteria. To help put you on the right track of what is most likely behind your disease, just google up "Staphylococcus Aureus and Eczema" and treat yourself to the most recent theories that suggest your skin and mucosa may merely be infected by bacteria that cause havoc in your immune system, causing an unchecked and debilitating inflammatory response.

As I told you in your other post, I have cured my LP by taking Saint John's Wort over a good period of time. Now type up "SJW and Staphylococcus Aureus"; Then, type up "SJW and super-antibiotic"; finally type up "SJW and inflammation"; and I could probably go on and on suggesting other googling hints that may indicate that the scientists' new theories about this disease are slowly becoming validated.

I firmly believe that I finally cured my LP thanks to the exceptional antibiotic and anti-Inflammatory properties of this wonderful plant. After all, I had horrible incurable wounds for 20 years, before SJW came to the rescue and restored my skin to what it used to look like when I was a child. Obviously, I can't guarantee you would achieve the same results with SJW, because everyone has a unique response to medication. For example, a given person suffering from a headache may respond well to Aspirin while another one would not respond at all, but find better relief with Tylenol. But at least you know that trying out anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory plant extracts may end up in providing you relief, if not an outright cure to this not fully understood disease. Patience is also key, as we are likely dealing with "tough-to-beat invaders in our bodies.

Hope I'm putting you and others on the right track to a better understanding of their ills, and towards a possibility of finding better relief with time.

    Cheers,

    Greg.

I am just loving this. You are helping me put this in to prospective. I've done so much research on this. I've seen so many doctors and specialists looking for answers. I haven't searched anything nor expected an answer from the doctors in over a year now. Yes, I got to the point of thinking I have to just try my best to live the best I can with this Lp. I started to research again a couple of weeks ago and came across this group. I understand much more now than I did 2 years ago. This information had given me a fresh hope. I am happy and excited to research now. I thank God for you all for taking the time to share with one another. I'm sure others reading feel the same. Thank you

I'm so glad that your hope is ressuscitating, because long ago and just like you, I also had abandoned all hope of finding a cure. I was just enduring the itchy, oozy and ugly skin, waiting for the occasional short-lived remission, often linked to some sun/sea exposure.

I thank all those brilliant scientists looking for answers, who hardly ever make the 6 o'clock news, and without whom I probably would never have tried this unusual solution. I do have to mention that initially, I only tried SJW to relieve myself from a period of stress, and that the effects on my skin came as a complete surprise. When they did come, I searched the journals to try to understand why SJW was also working on my skin. I then shared that information, or the means to find it, with other patients.

Again, I stress that there is no guarantee for anyone. Sure, I will tell you that a few patients on other forums have confirmed comparable results to mine with SJW, and sometimes while suffering from an even worse skin condition than my own at the time; but there are also some who claim to have seen little or no change at all, even after several months of treatment. There are unfortunately too many complex reasons that may explain why the treatment worked for one and not for the other. Perhaps there is also a faith component linked to what each one may have read or not. Believing in what you try on your own certainly has the potential to help.

In any case, yes, I hope to read about your progress in the future whatever the outcome may be, hoping of course that you will achieve comparable results to my own!

🤗🤗💆🏾‍♀️💆🏾‍♀️🗣I'm so ready to give the report of the completion of the manifestation of total healing. How be ever I will recover from this. My feet will be healed, my mouth, from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. Literally. Because I believe I willing to step out and try. I don't just try any and every thing, but I have tried a lot. Thank you. We will never know why it works for some and not others. Yes I've seen people with same ailment one healed the other not. IDK. So many questions. I don't want to just look for a solution to help me but so many others that suffer from this LP. This group is a wonderful start. Thank you for your time. Thanks for sharing your experience and your healing. Thank you for digging deeper just for me🤗🤗

Latest studies believe it may be linked to a herpes virus- if you have ever had chicken pox or the vaccine, you have herpes in your system, They believe that may be the underlying CAUSE... BUT, then it takes a trigger. That trigger seems to be stress, whether mental or physical- relationship breakup, final exams, death in the family, upcoming wedding, pregnancy, etc. Or, on the physical side:accident (trauma), surgery, dental work. Then there is the drug side, there is something called a lichenoid drug eruption. Lichen as an allergic reaction to some drugs/medications. Mine started with a new antiperspirant.

Stazstaz, if you read carefully, a direct link between HSV and Oral Lichen Planus was NOT found in a small-scale clinical trial. What was discovered however, was that an antiviral treatment against HSV (Acyclovir), appeared to have a positive effect against OLP in some patients, though this effect was likely not linked to the drug's main antiviral mechanisms.

Additionally, some patients who have OLP suffer concurrently from HSV, and/or HPV and / or Epstein Barr's virus. This is to be expected, since when the skin is damaged, it facilitates the entry of pathogens and viruses in the body.

As for stress, it is common knowledge that it can have a detrimental effect on anyone's immune system, and therefore on the ability of the body to combat just about any disease from the common cold to cancer. Getting rid of stress can be helpful when trying to heal from any disease. This is why REST has always been prescribed, when trying to heal.

Something I did not mention about SJW, is that its generally recognized positive effect on emotions may help relieve patients of some external stresses that inhibit their ability to heal. I have no doubt that when I tried SJW for stress and it worked, this may also have been a contributing factor to healing from regular LP (not OLP which I did not have).

As for Lichenoid eruptions associated with the use of drugs or any substance in general.... well yes, unfortunately, each of our bodies can be expected to develop some form of sensitizing reactions at times. Most of them are fortunately temporary, and removing the offending substance from our environment usually leads to healing.

Hope this helps in clarifying a few issues,

      Greg.
