Lichen Planus. Any natural cures?
Posted , 5 users are following.
I was diagnosed with LP two months ago after legions that appeared on my legs and hand in September 2017. Since then its spread all over my body.
I was given a steroid cream that helped. But the legions have turned into dark black spots.
I have cut out all wheat and wheat related products, and carbs.
Only eat chicken and turkey , occasionally sausages.
I also started taking Turmeric with black pepper tablets.
I use Turmeric soap for bath.
The above seems to help for a while and I relaxed about it , let go of my diet, eat some chocolate and chips and fish.
Its now returned with vengeance . The skin gets really hot and while its been cold outside I have been sitting inside in boxer. The body just feels hot. Taking antihistamines help, but it leaves me with foggy brain .
Try being veggie but it does not help just makes it worse.
Feel really low about the condition, as I am home not working, can’t work.
Has anyone tried Emuaid cream or any other creams ?

Hi Buggle,
The most probable reason Turmeric is helping with your LP, is because it can combat the bacteria Staphylococcus Aureus. Modern research is now linking certain strains of this bacteria as the most probable underlying cause of most varieties of atopic dermatitis that include LP, LSC, Eczema and Psoriasis.
I cured my 20 year combined skin condition of LSC and LP by taking St. John's Wort tablets over a 6 month period. SJW is also known to be very potent against the bacteria and is also believed to have skin-repairing properties. I have been disease-free for over 4 years now.
You can read my entire success story by clicking on my profile and then on my discussions.
Best of luck!
Greg.

Hi again Mary Pooh,
I'm so glad you are giving it a try! Yes I think it's worth it to be patient, because on other forums where I've shared my story, I have heard of people getting better in as little as one week, and others in as late as 9 months. I think everyone reacts differently based on the exact nature, spread and location of the disease.
Although I don't know if it's a pure coincidence, I've also noticed SJW seems to work better for those who aren't taking any other medicine simultaneously and who have stopped using steroid creams for quite some time. As for food, it doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever; and I can confirm personally having been cured while eating a little bit of everything, from the "worst" varieties of junk food through the healthiest of veggies.
May I ask you what dose you are taking on a daily basis?
All the best,
Greg.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I have been taking anxiety medication called citalopram 20mg for the last seven years, and i think St. John wort will interfere with that medication. But I am tempted to try St.Johns Oil on my skin.
Overall , what I am trying to understand is that LP is supposed to be an autoimmune skin disorder and not a bacteria based problem, hence my initial question does Euaid cream help with LP as it works on the bases of targeting Bacteria on the skin.
Has anyone tried Euaid cream on LP and what was the results?
I really glad I found this forum , because people around me don’t understand how awful this condition is and although I try to be positive about the future there at times I just want everything to be over permanently.

Try taking Turmeric tablets with Black pepper . Black pepper has a chemical called piperine which helps with the body absorption of Turmeric.
As I am type two diabetic on Metaforim Tablet, I found cutting down on Carbs help.
My suger level is now under 6.5 in the morning and I am only taking Half a tablet now.
I think elvated suger in body makes the condition worse.

Yes that is correct Buggle, based on existing information, you shouldn't be taking Citalopram and SJW internally together. And indeed, a fresh and good quality SJW oil or cream may also be quite helpful... In fact, if you type "SJW cream and eczema" in your search engine, you will see that there have been small-scale clinical trials, confirming some success.
As for the question concerning the immune disorder... This is what everyone including myself has been told, but the more recent research out there appears to be far more on the ball. Again, you can type "Atopic dermatitis and Staph" in your search engine to read all the new scientific reports coming from labs all around the world. For my part, I am convinced that this link must be true, since I have been cured and nothing else had worked this well beforehand.
Enjoy reading,
Greg.

I understand Mary Pooh... Yes it's unfortunate that you can't take more but this is an issue when you do have more complex health conditions. Just like I was discussing with Buggle, you may then want to try a SJW-based cream... Some are actually mixed with Calendula, Turmeric or other skin health-promoting ingredients.
I hope you will find success with time,
Greg.

Good suggestion Lamans! I have read that Ozone is even far more potent than Chlorine to combat bacteria. And the great thing about it, is that after it has done its job of oxydizing and thereby killing bacteria, it simply breaks down as harmless oxygen, leaving sensitive people free of any potential side effects.
So it sure holds some promise, especially for those who have to deal with the far more complex-to-deal-with OLP. I have also read that Oils can be ozonated, and will hold the ozone for much longer than water. Therefore, I suppose someone could easily bubble up some ozone in some flavored Olive Oil for instance, and then use it as a mouthwash to soothe the OLP. And obviously, it could also be applied on skin lesions... so there's an interesting option for those who have complex medical issues and may not tolerate even the safest natural medicines taken internally.
Cheers,
Greg.

Hi Greg , Thank you so much for responding as I have put some great info out there and really wanted to share , but didn’t get a lot of response. I came into this forum late and went back to hear your story , didn’t get all but I’m so interested on what you did ? I saw the SJW and a bit on Tummeric . I have been going on 6 yrs that my life was taken from me and I believe it was something far different in the beginning and then this is the result . Would you mind giving me a detailed account of what worked for you ? Thank you so much , Lynn 😊

With pleasure Lynn... The only thing is that I was not suffering from OLP... only a combination of Lichen Simplex Chronicus and Lichen Planus plaques over my front legs, from knee level to ankle. I did have pretty ugly and annoying lesions however, and nothing but sun exposure and sunbathing truly helped provide temporary relief over 20 years of suffering.
I had simply given up in trying to find a permanent cure for this skin condition, when the unrelated anxiety provoked by the loss of a job led me to read about St. John's Wort and how it might be beneficial to provide relief. SJW ended up working very well for my anxiety, but I was totally surprised to find my skin lesions and their symptoms disappearing after only 6 weeks of treatment with oral capsules; after 6 months, even the scars left behind from 20 years of scratching were gone!
So this got me curious to find out how such miracle might have unfolded. After plenty of reading, I found out about the links between Staph and "Eczema" and also how SJW was not just a natural anti-depressor, but also a potent antibiotic against many strains of bacteria and a documented wound healer since antiquity. I am now sharing this info on many forums worldwide, and like you, I am not getting a tremendous response, but on another forum, more patients have confirmed that oral SJW was indeed working for their various atopic dermatitis conditions. It doesn't seem to work for everyone nor does it always provide a complete cure, but in most cases, it does seem to provide considerable relief.
So I am now completely sold on the idea that any natural substance that can combat Staph (or other invading pathogens), may provide either relief or an outright cure for many skin conditions. Only trial and error can confirm this in each individual case; I don't think there is such thing as a magic bullet for everyone at this point in time. Each person reacts differently, depending on the exact nature and spread of the disease, as well as sensitivity to a given therapy.
Hope this was informative,
Greg.

I don't believe brand names are so important, as most St. John's Wort capsules are manufactured with the same extraction process that guarantees a medicinal content of 0.3% Hypericin. When this condition is satisfied on the label, you probably have a quality product on hand. I have tried several brand names initially and ended up settling on an economical generic product from my local pharmacy; all worked fine for me. If you can find a product that certifies a Hyperforin content and it happens to be in the 3-4% range, that should be even better in terms of the product's potential efficiency; this last molecule is believed to be the most important one in SJW for its adaptogenic properties (meaning that it may help combat a wide spectrum of human diseases).
As for dosage, I took 2 X 300mg. capsules every night, an hour or two before going to sleep. This is considered a low dose, so you may want to experiment with more if you tolerate SJW well with no side-effects. Also, do make sure that you are not taking any other medication that may interact with SJW while you are under treatment. I only experienced positive effects, but perhaps that is precisely because I was not under any other prescribed medication.
I'm happy to share the info in my spare time, because I know how these skin diseases can be such an impairment for all those who suffer. But I think we should be particularly thankful to all those researchers out there who are struggling to find solutions, often with very little visibility or honour from the mainstream press; and also to Mother Nature for providing us with such wonderful plants from which we can sometimes find relief!
I wish you the best of luck, and I would be thrilled to hear from you if you can find some time to share any outcome from your treatment(s)!
Greg.
