Lichen planus friendly mouth wash

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have lichen planus in my mouth and use a steroid mouthwash for flare ups. I have poor enamel and have been advised not to over brush. i tend to only brush at night and have tried a range of mouthwashes to use after breakfast but even alcohol free make my mouth sore. I would be very grateful for advice. Many thx DEB

Sarakan mouthwash is very gentle and I would use a miswak stick to help keep your mouth clean plus lots of flossing.

      Hi Kayleigh

not sure from looking at photo - I have patches of white on the side of my tongue and mouth. My mouth is now very sensitive - eating toast is too rough and spicey food and anything minty (even Tictacs ) I can't tolerate and most mouthwashes burn. Every now and then I have a flare up and my mouth is REALLY sore.

Lichen planus is an autoimmune condition - where the immune system is over active and doesn't recognise your body as being 'friend' and starts attacking it as 'foe'. I have a couple of other autoimmune conditions - apparently they tend to go together - if you have 1 you are likely to get others.

Not sure if that has helped but definately don't miss your dentist appt

      hi Kayleigh

Presumably it was GP who prescribed antibiotics so even if they missed something your dentist will pick it up - IF there is something else going on.

Re lingering sore throat - has a swab been sent to path lab to identify appropriate antibiotic?

      Best wishes
