Lichen Planus & symptoms

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with Lichen Planus & also have Oral Lichen Planus. On the skin it appears mainly on my legs causing itching then soreness, in the mouth I also have soreness and gum irrititions. I would like to know with those of you that have suffered with throat problems does anyone get a feeling of restriction? I do and it is awful, so far they have only found a very small cyst but I am thinking the LP is also in my throat. Can anyone offer any advice? Still waiting to see another specialist

I am also suffering with all of this. I have like a scratchy throat and always need to drink water, in 57 mine got worse after the menopause in my 40s I had an abnormal smear and colposcopy and am sure they are linked, how old are you X

I am 55 and yes gone through the menopause. Odd that you too had an abnormal smear, I did too many years ago but all normal since. I have read this can affect the throat but is rare! Seems we may be a rarity! Other symptoms I have that the specialist says is all linked - ridges on the finger nails, itchy scalp but its my mouth & throat that is the worse at the moment. Have you found anything that helps? I do some internet searching sometimes but not found anything yet. This is an autoimmune condition that is not hereditory however my sister has rheumatoid arthritis which apparantly is also an autoimmune problem. How long have you been suffering with this?

I had cone biopsy for my abnormal smear when I was about 42, then I seemed to go through the menopause, around the same time I was diagnosed with lichen planus by my dentist he sent me for a biopsy but I didn't even know I had it then no symptoms at all it's only these last few years Iv had this burning mouth with spicy foods and certain other foods and my throat feels scratchy all the time I'm forever drinking water. It drives me mad, my scalp was bad but more my mouth now also noticed my hair on vulva us so sparse, I'm also going through a divorce so very stressed, after 25 years he was cheating on me for the last few years so I am quite down, it's great to talk don't feel so alone then. I am from the UK what about you Christine and im actually meeting up with a couple if ladies Iv met on here like us, Xx

Mine has been a recent diagnosis, my dentist sent me to a specialist at the hospital had a biopsy which you will know is stressful waiting for the results. I have had other health problems which I have had for years and Doctors never found the cause and still can't. You do feel quite alone even if you're actually not. Sorry to hear you're going through some personal issues too but I re-married at 50 so when one door closes there is always another one that opens. I am from the UK also, I live on the South coast. I think its important to talk to others that have the same problems, we can all learn from each other and even if there is no cure perhaps we can find a way to keep it under control. It is hard sometimes to stay positive but it is important. I am making a concious effort to make sure my diet is more healthy I have no idea if that will help. Have started dancing again as exercise when able can only help (I think). Hope your meet up goes well

I have not come accross LP in the eusophagus. I have it inside my cheeks, tongue and now particularly the lips are inflammed. I have had to swallow food due to sore mouth and I have had a painful tonsils because of that. I then realised I should eat smaller portions so I dont hurt the back of my mouth.
