I have Lichen Planus for almost 3 years now. I have it on Arms, few on leg and back side..

Leaves purple or red patch if not treated quickly

Betaderm Ointment 0.05% - Works good if used it right away or first sign of symptoms..and dont have to treat for long if I use it as soon as i see new spot

Cons --> makes skin thinner so I try not to use it for long, stop once it subsides..

Vitamin E Oil- I use once it stops itching and to get rid of scars

Turmeric - I use 1 spoon of dry turmeric powder mixed with water and drink in the morning - helps a bit

Spices/Chillis - As soon as I have spicy food or green peppers I see new spots starts..Try to avoid spicy food

Vitamin D Deficiency - I read it somewhere that Vitamind D Deficiency has a significant role in Lichenplanus - so I did my blood work - it was 20,,, normal range is above 200..so I was severely low on Vitamin D - Started prescription of Vitamin D2-50,000 IU once a week.

Homeo PAthy - Tried homeopathy meds, worked like charm initially but seems like its not working

Never tried Coconut oil or castor oil, I read on this forum that it helps so I am going to try and see how does it work.

For ORAL lichen planus - I had flared once or twice and used Turmeric Powder - keep in mouth as much as possible and swallow -  I only use it for 2 to 3 times a day  and it works like magic and clears up quickly

Thanks very much for this really useful info.I have OLP which is under control at the moment, but will keep just in case. Have you ever tried aloe products? I have been using an aloe toothpaste after my regular one (the aloe doesn't contain fluoride - I'm concerned re the state of my teeth). I really can't say whether it's the aloe that has caused the improvement or a change in diet - cutting down on citrus spicy and hot foods.
