hi,i have been really sore for 3 years now,at my routine cancer smear test the nurse noticed how red and sore i was and told me to see my GP asap, the condition has never got any better only worse,i`ve been prescribed Zerobade and its not helping,i was seen  in gyny last year and heard nothing from them.last week when i could stand no more i went back to my gp,i was then telephoned by the surgery to see a different gp.i saw her last night and she is 100% certain i have LS and is referring me to gyny again, she also said i have a part prolapse ,,,,are the two conditions connected?? i`m also afraid of having a biopsy and of course terrified it may be cancer

Susan, the best thing about a diagnosis of LS is you then get lifelong checkups to make sure you don't get cancer. LS is never in the vagina. Flareups can be triggered by the Koebner effect, skin care trauma, including surgeries. Do watch Dr. Goldsteins

' s presentaion, linked in the pinned topic at the top here, 'new to LS- start here'. It will tell you what most doctors don't have time to explain. Stick around. Youve come to the right place!

Hi Susan, Please do not be afraid of a biopsy, it really is not that bad. A biopsy will diagnose and eliminate any issues you have. I have not come across a connection of any prolapse being connected to LS. If you see a specialist and do not recieve a follow up report then get in touch with the department or clinic concerned as sometimes information fails to go through the system. This happened to me when a letter from my consultant gyn. to my gp. concerning my positive biopsy results failed to be sent to my gp. I telephoned the vulva clinic who apologised for the failure and then sent the required letter to my gp. So if you do not get expected results again always chase them up as no system is fail proof and it is very important for you and your gp to have the results. Cancer from LS is quite rare and usually it involves advanced cases about 5% I think. Go ahead with what your gyn.advised for you as that way you will get the best care available to you.

hi Norma, thanks for taking the time to reply,i only mentioned the prolapse to my gp cos i`d seen it when i was trying to check things and felt like a lump but she looked and said it was a prolapse so without my ls symptoms i wouldn`t have known about it and its not causing me any problems .

Susan have you seen your gyny yet?   I am having same problem...red,sore, and only getting worse.  I have an app't in Sept.  Having gone three years without relief or answers is a long time.  All the best.
