Lichen sclerosis

ive recently been given a steroid cream as dr suspects that i have lichen sclerosus. I havent been diagnosed as of yet due to current circumstances but i believe its that as the symptoms are exactly the same. The itching and stinging has got a lot better but im still getting the tiny splits of skin in the anal area especially after i have worn underwear or need the toilet and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how i can avoid the tearing as this is the worst issue for me.
i was wondering also does anyone experience bad lower abdomnal pain before a flare up as i have had this for a while now and the drs couldnt decide what it was but i feel like its related to lichen.
any info id be really grateful for thank you

i have the lower pain in my stomach but it comes from me having a irritable bowel. usually when i see a small tear i sat in borax laundry detergent with baking soda in warm water . so you could try this.

hi...I really never made the connection BUT (I am 68 years old) last week I sort of had what I would call "period cramps" and I thought how weird....sure not getting my period...followed my a "flare up" so yes, maybe that is true...I do use a steroid and a hormone cream....along with coconut oil and take baths (not for too long because the hot water and also dry the V area out)...u will get some great suggestions from this site as the women who deal with LS seem to know as much (if not more) than the professionals...

HI Nadine! All great responses from others. I thought I'd add that I use Desitin - a zinc ointment usually meant for babies bottoms, or sailors noses, if/when I still get the rare anal splits. I also take zinc as part of my nutrition regimen as it is a known skin healer.
About the "cramps" not sure for you, but I associate the occasional "wave" of crampy, I'm 74- ha! with mildish UTI. If you haven't run across this yet, LS does tend to get us into UTI territory no matter how careful we are with our bathroom duties. MY integrative cardiologist physician has told me to take drops of grapefruit seed extract on a fairly ongoing basis. seems to work well for me.

hey nancy
thank you for your reply. i do experience uti like cramps, but also lots of pain in my back and lower abdomen. I feel as though it effects my bowels also as when i get the tears or sore skin it stops me from releasing my bowels which has then lead me to have piles or fissures its like a never ending cycle the flare up im having atm is the worst ive ever had. im also scared to do hair removal down there as i dont want to make it worse.
do you have any suggestions ?
luckily i have a drs app next week to try and get to the bottom of all these problems x
