Liz, I am a male who has been dealing with LS for 8 years. I learned how to successfully manage my white patches through trial and error of using Clobetasol (Dermovate) - this took around 6 to 8 months to get this right.

The essentials are, have you seen a specialist about your LS? If so, can you go back to see that specialist? What medication have you been given? If so, how often have you been using this medication? Have you tried anything else?

There are many wonderful Ladies on this Forum and I am sure they will make their suggestions to you - but it would be helpful for them to know what has been happening for you from the questions I ask ......

I've been curious about this: are white patches the most painful skin? I got 2 white spots a month ago (new area of skin) and have been putting clob on 2x daily for two weeks (so far). But the spots are enlarging. I know it takes time to get rid of white spots - and clob does that - but they are spreading regardless.

I think the answer is yes, they can be banished. It takes time and treating the disease, not the symptoms. When I was diagnosed, Doc knew it on sight because of white "cigarette paper" skin. Followed up with biopsy.

    For me, this is:

    1. Steroid. If you have serious irritated skin, then 2x a day until the irritation and redness are gone. Then back off to 1x a day for 1 week. Then M/W/F 1x a day forever.
    2. Protopic. t/t/s/s . I'm in week 6 of this and feeling pretty good...but it still creates redness and light itching in 1 area...this is the area where I had my biopsy, so I have this theory that if the protopic is causing red/itch, it is still working on the cells. Anyone have any thoughts on this???
    3. Nystatin as needed for possible yeast.
    4. Topical hibiclens or bath hibiclens if there is a hint of uti.
    5. Vitamin E oil daily as morning barrier.
    6. Coconut oil with vit E throughout the day as moisturizer.

After 6 weeks of this, my husband says he sees no white patches.
