LIchen Sclerosus and Diuretics : lessons learned

Dear all, I've been meaning to get around to sharing something about my discovery of having LS. ''I don't at all "blame" my doctor, but after I realized had this and had gotten a referral from my integrative docs office to see an gynecologist I hadn't had a scheduled appt with my doctor for another 2 months. When he saw my chart that had stuff added to it online he immediately said, Oh, my gosh that's my mistake! argh.

Here's the bottom line: Dr. Bailey had prescribed a diuretic for the slight edema I get from having a slightly wonky timing in my heart. HEAR THIS if any of you take diuretics:

NEVER let them prescribe this particular chemical for you, it is KNOWN to EXACERBATE LS.

is called HCTZ Hydrochlorthiozide.Triamterene HCTZ

no no no....So IF this is so well known, why do they prescribe it at all; It should be taken off the market!! There are plenty of others of the same type etc.

Just so you know, or someone comes across this message who needs to know.
