Lichen sclerosus and dry blood spotting

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi - I'm 43 and was diagnosed with LS approx 15 months ago.

I alternate between steroid cream and cetraben and the symptoms of discomfort are mostly controlled.

I have noticed dark spotting a couple of days after sex and this can continue for nearly 1 week. there is no pain.

anyone else have this?

I haven't seen the gynaecologist for around 1 year. am I supposed to have routine reviews?

    Hi cookie,

I saw your comment when searching " does lichen cause bleeding ? "

Im post menopausal and 56. I was diagnosed with this condition about 3 years ago after thinking it was thrush for years. I like you use Cetraban and steroid cream.

I have had at times what looks like dark dried blood stains , especially when Ive had itchiness and sometimes after sex. I have in the last 6 months have had this checked by a Gynae and nothing worrying was found in terms of the cervix etc so I can only assume the bleeding is caused by friction /tearing of thin Lichen skin .

Maybe you could mention it to your GP as I suppose all bleeding should be checked, but I think bleeding is noted as a symptom of our condition.

Maybe you feel a little reassured knowing someone else gets this ?

    Best
