Lichen Sclerosus and Pregnancy/Delivery

I was diagnosed ~3 years ago with LS. So far, it has been fairly well controlled. (I.e. I can live with it, with occasional flares)

I'm 33, and 20 weeks pregnant with our first baby, and getting ready to have a conversation about C-Section vs. vaginal delivery with both my LS specialist and my OB that will be delivering the baby.

I'm very uncomfortable considering a vaginal birth, because of the risk of severe tearing - to me, it isn't worth years/possible forever of sexual problems, when there is another alternative for delivery.

Has anyone had experience with this, and had success advocating for a CS with their provider? 😦

personally no, however as both a staff nurse and a LS sufferer myself i can say that if i were in your position i would absolutely go the C section route for exactly the same reasons you just said. good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and safe delivery x

Thank you @pamela70431! I'm just having anxiety over advocating for a C-Section, when I know most providers try to avoid them. I love my OB, but I also hate the fact, that ultimately she gets the final say in whether or not I have the CS option.

I'm assuming if it is coded as "medically necessary" based on LS, that insurance will cover, but that is also a concern.
