For the sake of clarity, I still do use my steroid along with emuaid.

When trying a new product, just dab a tiny amount in the least irritated area and wait for half a day to see your skin's response. It helps me most on the itchy areas. When I'm very sore, I tend to use Vaseline barrier or extra virgin olive oil.

Ive been useing the vaseline to protect the skin from dryness and chafeing. My problem is i get more irritation from it when wearing my underwear as the underwear clings to the vaseline and cause the skin to get irritated from that.

The problem with Vaseline...its good for some things, but I wouldn't use it all the time, simply because it's like smearing glue onto your skin, of which the very act can cause irritation, itching, that's why I prefer something that glides on, with your fingers hardly touching the inflamed, sore skin, and of course, as you say clothing sticks to it.  Why not try coconut oil, or emu oil.  I do use vaseline sometimes, usually in very sore particular areas. I suppose I have a routine and know what works for me when I need it.

Hi Lorraine, I wrote a post but think I lost it.

long story short, after six months of pain and lesions during which my specialist dermatologist insisted I use Dermavate (and then Prednisone for three horrible months to try and tolerate the ointment), then changed me to Elecom ointment. That burned and blistered me too. The only thing that kept me going was the advice and help from here and trying the many soothing aids which were detailed and varied. Some worked, some didn't, none hurt, some had an effect I didn't like, none caused permanent damage. Personally, I settled for Atavan Fatty Cream, suggested by a fellow

New Zealander. My own local doctor has now prescribed Elecon cream and I feel slightly better in three days! The cream and not the ointment worked for me when I was first diagnosed last year but after my flare they changed it. Now it seems I may be intolerant to something in the base ingredients of ointment or even the steroid itself and will be having patch tests in winter. So nobody is the same, you have to be pro active and if one health professional isn't helping you, go to another. I actually go to my doctor, a gynaecologist and the dermatologist. They are all aware of each other's involvement and keep in touch. All want to help but standard treatment is all there is for now. Read these posts and take heart. We have all been in despair and talking on here to people who knows how you actually feel is invaluable!

    Kind regards and take care

For me the creams or ointments just made it worse it made the rest of the healthy skin raw I use 45,000 iu vitamin E oil at night and aloe Vera gel every time I use the restroom I am gluten free I take wheatgrass everyday and pro biotic it is now very minimal but I do it every day when I slack off it will get bad again hope this helps I also sprayed witch hazel then patted dry before applying the aloe Vera when its bad it helps skin hold moisture

Yes I would think so. It's used as an astringent/toner sometimes. Best to google it first I think or maybe someone else on here knows more about it. Me.... I'd be apprehensive of using it down there
