lichen sclerosus - male - perineum

About 7 months ago, I had a very strange and sore feeling between my legs and my wife found I had a white shiny 'scar' on the left of my perineum. The doc seemed intrigued and diagnosed LS, prescribing some steroid cream. That only made matters worse as it was burning the good side. A referral to the dermatology department at the local hospital also confirmed LS. Anyway, I was prescribed some Dermol 500 liquid soap to wash with and some Centraben cream to apply twice daily. Lo and behold, after about a month, the discomfort went away and stayed away for about 4 months. Now the LS has spread to both sides of my perineum and is mighty sore, especially when walking, with little relief now from the Dermol 500 or Centraben.

I plan to go back to the hospital, but I wondered if anyone else has this problem, especially when walking. I'm a 54 year old male and I know such cases in men are rare. When they are encountered, it's usually the penis that takes the hit. Thankfully, I've been spared that delight, but my arse crease, pardon the vernacular, looks like a freshly prepped skating rink!

The pleasures of life! I'm not expecting much male traffic on this one, but any suggestions on finding relief would be much appreciated!
