Life is full of Misery!

My third night at home tonight after being discharged from

hospital (TLHR) last Sunday. My wife is my 'nurse' and says that if I don't stop moaning she will treat me in the same way as James Cahn was treated in the film Misery! Therefore I have hidden my Mallott and am now Mr Nice at present.

Anyone else got any sadistic wives / nurses at home?

From Mr Grumpy (sorry Mr Nice)

Don't have a sadistic spouse ( and haven't had the surgery yet) but your post is hilarious! I loved Kathy Bates in that movie

Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

Ha ha l am sure she is not that bad. I am 6 weeks post op and am lucky to have a lovely husband as a nurse. He has been very understanding if anything he gives me a row for bending down when he can do it for me.

I am not a moaner though l tend to suffer in silence so maybe this does not drive him crazy.

He is there for me when l need my sock things changed helps me get dressed although l can do most of this in my own now. Hang in there you have just been through major surgery you have every right to moan ☺

In my house we deal with a lot of things with humour. I am waiting for my second hip and am in a lot of OA pain. . The other day I was in a bit of a state and teary. My partner said...

"Darling, what you need is some loving,  gentle, positive words and a great big hug".

I wiped away my tears and he gave me a big hug then he said..

"Now pull yourself together, man up and go and put the kettle on"

    I do love him, really

    Hi

I have had both hips replaced but am still on 2 crutches {2 years} and I have a lovely supportive husband...not just for the 6 weeks after the op.

I do talk to him about how I feel but TRY not to do it to much.....thats where this kind of forum comes in to its own.......we are all in the same boat and know how the other feels.  I try not to put more weight than necessary on him. So I'll come on and have a moan her or on another one I belong to

    Love

Actually, I've been staying with my boyfriend since being released from the hospital last Wed.  He's not only been a great nurse, but a great chef, and helps me with my exercises, making sure that I do everything right.

David - hard times at the moment, still early days yet.

Tell her you will behave yourself, and not moan too much, also remember to tell her you love her, and thank her for all the extra help she is giving you.

Do you have a good book, or is TV even worth watching, distract yourself from your pain, play on your computer.

Take your pain killers to help with the pain levels, you will find in a couple of weeks you will be able to say, "I don't need those any longer", such a relief to be able to say those words.

Get well David, and best wishes to your lovely nurse wife.

I had my sister who had to do things my first week w😳 i soon learnt how myself very quickly, she actually has been my rock, there before even came up to the theatre walk with me, there when i couldn't sleep or just wanted to cry.  Even now she is working away (she is a maternity nurse) she is on the phone nagging sorry encouraging me to do this and that.

David, you are a lucky man to have a wonderful wife to love and care for you. Tell her only another 2-3 weeks and you will be a different person.

Mine is getting fed up with my state after 12 weeks of this, and another 10 weeks to go before I can do my own socks, shoelaces and go back to work.

Poor woman, I feel sorry for her having to put up with me in this state.

I took a photo of my husband removing my toenail polish tonight in prepare for THR #2 which is scheduled for tomorrow a.m. My first one was 7 wks ago and he has been a trooper. But of course we are both tired of it. And tomorrow I return to a state of more dependency for a couple of weeks.  I will feel good to be independent again and able to help with walking the dog, etc.  We have both worked hard to be patient. Have had some slips but for the most part it has gone well.

    Hi David ,

not sure what to tell you here - I was alone and had 2 THR's - don't wanna toot my own horn here, but there was noone to moan to - if I need a good rant or felt extremely sorry for myself, I shared it with the family here ....
