Lifespan of prednisone

I'm just wondering if anyone knows how long prednisone stays in the body. And how long does it take for all of it to leave a body.

The half life of pred is just a few hours, the figures quoted vary - but after less than 4 hours there is half of what you took left, 4 hours later, halved again and so on. The standard assumption is that the substance will be pretty much gone after 4 to 5 half lives. So pred will be gone from the body in a day.

The effects may take longer to go - but that is something different.

Eileen is spot on as usual - the after effects take quite a bit longer. In my case around 9/10 months before I was fully back to 'normal' howbeit a bit older and wiser!
