Light flicker in the periphery (not a flash)

A few times a day I experience what appears to be like a flicker of light (similar to an electric bulb flickering due to electrical issues). It lasts for less than a second. It's not like a flash (people have explained flashes like a flash of a camera). This is in my left eye and I also have twitching in the same eye (and tinnitus in my left ear)

Does this appear to be a retinal issue or could it be maybe a migraine?

    Hi lg77,

I too, experience this exact thing in my right eye.  I am 61.  Have suffered from opti migraines for around 20 years.  I also went thru  flashing in my right eye (different from the current flicker) which was posterior vitreous detachment.  Now I have this.  Had excruciating eyes tests with a retinal specialist and when all was said and done he just said, He thinks it’s just occasional after effects from my two other conditions.  Weird.  So I go on with life and occasionally see the light flicker and just don’t let it get to me... just go get it checked.  It will relieve your mind.

    Good luck!  Linda

I am experiencing something similar on occasion. This started after my cataract surgeries so I'm not sure if its related to that. I'm also seeing a retina specialist because the capsule tore during surgery, so he is checking me regularly. Definitely mention to your doctor.
