lightheaded and off - now cold symptoms and possible anxiety.

Hello,

Last Saturday I started feeling a little off balance and very tired. We had just finished a big hike up a steep mountain - I thought maybe it had something to do with that, so I didn't worry much. Sunday, we had shocking news of a death in the family (and it was a total shock) - so I thought I was feeling this way because of that. My brother is very sick in the hospital, so I thought it had to do with that, but this is a whole new thing to me and I have never had anything like this happening before. I went to a walk-in clinic yesterday and she thought it sounded like vertigo and suggested me to go see en ENT. I went to the ENT today and he thinks it may have to do something with the inner ear, but it didn't sound like vertigo.

So I guess what I am asking is - has anyone ever expeienced the tired/lightheadness/off balance/head feeling heavy up to around my eyes symptoms *BEFORE* the cold symptoms arrived? The doctor at the walk in clinic said she saw my throat red, but my throat does not hurt. When I look up stuff related to the inner ear issues - it says it is usually caused by a cold, which to me sounds like a cold happens first, then the inner ear stuff. I'm really confused here. I am tired of playing guessing games as to what may be going on. It's a little scary and I just wish I had a better understanding of what may be happening. The ENT said that also anxiety does weird stuff to our bodies and it could also be that as well, but yet it still confuses me because I had the first weird feeling BEFORE I got the shocking news of the death in the family, but I did know she was sick and it was serious the day before.

Any ideas of helpful information is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Well,as colds etc usually take 4 days (So I have been told) to ,incubate and  symptoms to,show,up,,it,could be possible. It is usually a virus that can start this whole thing off, not sure about colds though.

the anxiety and all that other stuff usually comes after the onset of vertigo symptoms which is what i  and many others have found. Obviously due to our bodies and senses being under pressure (Stress) to react and behave normally, but cant.  I Always think,of it like a car that runs smoothly and then one small, but significant component is damaged and all the other parts that depend on it cant function properly, so the car, us, is thrown out of sync.

the problem is  finding someone who,is clever enough to locate that component and fix it!! (As opposed to,a,calculated guess which a lot,of them do)!!

Thanks for replying Gillian! I just hope that whatever it is that is going on is starting to get better, since I don't feel as badly as I did yesterday.

Strenuous exercise can reduce the magnesium in our bodies. Low magnesium can cause dizziness and fatigue. It might just be worth getting a supplement and seeing if that makes a difference.
