Must be stress !!? (Having a rant, sorry) Fed up of being told I am stressed. Of course I am stressed

I ve been feeling ill for nearly 2 years (and good job my blood pressure is low as I've just worked out how much I've spent on prescriptions for drugs that haven't worked at all.) If anyone finds a doctor who seems to have any idea what causes all this please pass the details on. Cheers and good luck xx

    Hi Lyn

Sorry you're suffering.  Your symptoms sound as if you may have migraine and vertigo (migrainous vertigo) as well as tinnitus.

Unfortunately, tinnitus can prolong for a long time or, in my case, it may be permanent.  Stress can exacerbate these conditions and the conditions can make you stressed, especially when you are in the dark without a proper diagnosis.

There are good doctors out there (I'm in the UK) but treatment can vary so much between patients and the causes of the illness varies too.  In some cases tinnitis can be the result of an ear infection or it can be permaent damage to the ear.

I've suffered from migraine from childhood and vertigo for 20 years and had to retire from my job, five years ago, when the migraine and vertigo went into a permanent state.

There is hope though.  I've gradually improved with a combination of medication and alternative therapies (acupuncture, chiropractic, cranio), although I have accepted that my condition is likely to be permanent.  I was referred to a physio who gave me eye co-ordination exercises which helped the vertigo over a long period of time.

I hope you can get a diagnosis and find a treatment that will help you.

    Best wishes

Thanks. I ve been on several mig meds and topiramate seems to have slightly reduced the headaches maybe but still very lightheaded. Its odd though because I have the odd day when I am fine. Had chiropractic treatment because the neurologist thinks i have wear and tear in my neck which may be triggering neuralgia and migs. So on gabapentin for nerve pain too. No improvement. Chiropractic treatment really aggravated the problem and made me very sore and dizzy. I am in the uk. 8 week wait for mri scan so having one privately next week. Been off work since Jan : ( housebound some days so lightheaded. how about you? Does it affect your life much?

    Hi again Lyn

I'm on Amitriptyline for nerve pain and Almotriptan for migraines.  It is a very debilitating illness and one that is difficult to understand.  You can feel fine one day and the next unable to get out of bed.  This can make it hard for others to understand how the condition can change so drastically.

Chiropractic treatment can make you feel worse for the first few treatments before you see an improvement so it might be worth persevering, as long as you have got a good practitioner.  I've recommended many people for chiro treatment for a variety of problems who now swear by it.

Insomnia affects my condition.  In fact I feel that insomnia played a big part in my illness.  After a night of not sleeping the migraine would start with pains at the back of my right eye which spread into my right ear and the whole of the right side of my face. The dizziness and vomiting would then follow and I would be in a haze of pain for three to four days.

How that I'm retired (early sixties) I feel less pressure because I don't have to worry about work. If you are young it must be difficult for you to suffer such a debilitating illness when so much is expected of you.

Be optimistic, you will eventually find the right medication or therapy which will improve your condition and your life.

    Take care.

Lyn, that sounds awful. My doctor only gave me meclazine--like Dramamine for nausea and dizziness but it's non-drowsy. The was also going to give me a light tranaquilizer to sleep but I already take valium if I can't sleep, but I don't take it much. Mainly, she recommended the Epley Maneuve, which I've done every day for 6 weeks, and I am 95 percent better. But I too was very tired when my case was worse. I think it' draining both physically and mentally.

I don't think they know what causes it, although people with migraines (as I am) often get it. Mine, in fact, I realized on seeing old records tends to relapse. Now I remember I've had it twice before, 5 and 10 years ago.

They never told me then what it was. Right now I have only a little left:  when I get up from bed too quickly, look up, or turn quickly to one side.

Have you seen a specialist in ears? I hope you get rid of this plague soon. Since you still have it, maybe another opinion would help. (If you do, take any test results to the new man. And if you haven't been properly tested, why not?  Any doc that says it's all in your head is way behind in medicine. Good luck.

Posted over a year ago. That's 3 years now if you haven't found a cure.if you have would you share any info please .I have them symptoms.I'm trying to pair it with something. Think could be down to a digestive issue I have.not sure but symptoms seem to start down below then chest pains and then head and ears.drives me mad.had ecg checks znd blood test for heart and they are fine.I'm self diagnosing here because I lose faith in gp.they last for about three weeks then fade away but not fully.started about 4 years ago with acid reflux and now progressed to this.I try and ignore it hoping it will pass but very difficult especially when I get up 4.30 am for work..

I might have the closest thing you're going to get to the answer to all these strange health issues. Its detailed and long but its more definitive than anything you're going to find because i have done extensive work in research and I know what its like to have all these problems and no answers. If you want to hear what I have to say private message me.
