Lightheaded for 6 months, can't get a diagnosis.

Hey there,

I've been having some weird symptoms coming on 6th months now....

Everything was fine until one night I was trying to fall asleep and I got really short of breath and was gasping for air.....I finally fell asleep around 3 am and when I woke the next morning I felt really weird. I was really lightheaded and was still really short of breath, my heart was racing and I had this really strange feeling with my vision and my head felt all funny. I went to a doctor on my lunch break and she sent me to the ER since my heart rate was elevated and I was short of breath. In the hospital, I had numerous test done (mostly of my heart and blood) and everything came back normal. I followed up with another cardiologist after and everything proved fine. I've also been experiencing headaches on at least 4-5 days a week. Since then I've seen 2 ENT's, a neurologist and 2 MD's. I've had multiple blood tests done, a VNG that was normal and haven't recieved a diagnosis. I tried VRT for a month but didn't see any progress. The doctors thing that my problem is central since my VNG came back normal and I'm not having any balance issues. What in the heck could this be?? I've been trying to measure progress since this all started but it's hard since my symptoms are constant.....So confused as to what could be going on. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

    Hello,

When you said your head felt funny, did it feel like you were in a dream or like things around you were not real or far away?

It possibly could be a panic attack causing it.  Did the doctors say anything about anxiety or panic?  If all else turns out ok, they usually call in the anxiety.

Did they do blook work to check for anything?  Maybe thyroid or hormones are causing this?

    I hope you feel better.

Thanks for the response! Sometimes I do feel like that, like I'm dreaming or that I'm not really myself. It feels like a fuzzy/static-y layer over my brain that I just want to peel back. It's so hard to describe. None of the doctors mentioned anxiety...although I definitely feel like I have developed it since the onset of these symptoms. I've had thyroid tests done but no hormones. It's just so frustrating because I'm 24 and healthy. I eat well and work out 6 days a week. Not sure why my body is punishing me.

Since it is believed that your symptoms are central, will you be followed regularly by the neurologist?
