Limps-v-Corsets

Hi, 2 years since I fell and had to have a hip replacement. I am still limping badly and in pain (still on Tramadol) so went for x-rays and they confirmed that one leg (the side operated on) was longer than the other - to my surprise only half a centimetre as I thought it was much more than that. Anyway saw another Consultant who said he didn't think a shoe lift would do the trick and has recommended I have a corset. Has anyone had this problem for a limp and does the corset work re getting rid of the limp? Any advice would be great.

Regards

So, the corset would correct your posture I’m assuming and therefore correct the leg length?

Yes, will do, The corset is order so goodness knows when I get it??

Hi Emsjane, just to let you know I got my corset 2 days ago - must say that the pain in my hip and back has improved dramatically. Not had to take any pain killers whilst wearing it. I still have a slight limp so I am putting an inner sole in my 'short'  leg to see if this improves the limp - will let you know if this helps with the dreaded limp ha ha!!

      Hi Jean,

That’s great news! I hope it continues to help you and improve things for you.

I’m 16 days post op now and although not perfect my legs seem to be almost the same length now. I did have a day when I stood and felt my shorter side adjust and lower to the floor, maybe my pelvis was out of kilter. As my operated side is still sore I can’t quite stand with legs straightened and knees locked, but it’s looking good so far!

Have they said how long you have to wear it for?

Hi, it's called PRIM ACTION Semi-rigid lumboscacral back support belt with lumbar criss cross and single tensioner No.981 and the EAN No.08426680931144. If you just out Prim Action No.981 I believe they come up online. I am so pleased with it and thought It would feel too hot (I live in Spain so always very hot where I live) but no it's ok.

Hi, no specific time was given. I am so pleased with it and the fact that I can disperse with Tramadol is great. Now trying to find an inner sole to put in my left shoe - think probably one that just lifts the heel would be better. Good news that you seem to be doing well - long may it continue.

Thanks for that jean, I did think it was for hip but maybe they do them as well, hope it's cooler their than here, it's melting weather but you probably have Aircon dream LOL glad your feeling better

Yes, I was given it because of HIP pain and the fact that one leg is shorter than the operated side. Now trying to find something to fit in my 'short' leg shoe to make the legs even - trial and error me thinks. I looked on the internet and yes you can put Prim Action 981 and it comes up. Pleased to say we have aircon - but WOW you are having great weather in the UK - enjoy it.
