Try using Sudocrem down there. it works wonders for me, and I can go to the loo when I have a flare up without screaming with pain. X

I have tried that before and found I didn't really help my dermatologist said not to use it  ? I'm wondering about what to even wear that will be comfortable  because at the moment even knickers are very irritating what do you we in a flare up

I have the same disease and when I get a really bad flair up. I use Clobetasol Ointment. (not salve, not cream) Ointment. My OB/GYN told me to use it this way during the flair up.

Apply twice a day for 2 weeks.

Apply once a day for 2 weeks.

Apply every other day for 2 weeks.

Apply twice a week for several weeks.

It works for me very well. Just have to keep at it. If it hurts to go pee. Just keep a squirt bottle next to the toilet and spray water on the vulva while going to the bathroom.

    Good Luck! confused

Hi Gillian, I know how you are feeling as I had this from end of June until last week.

the advise below about the ointment is very good. It really does work better than the cream. Try going without knickers whenever possible and do not wear trousers as it is so sore. Also try putting a little ice pack on the area when you can. It helps. Mine just 99.9% resolved when the weather cooled but I am still worried it may come back as I was crying with the awfulness of it. If you find anything else helpful please let me know.

    good luck.

      Hi,

it is awful and I was so scared it wouldn’t go. The cold treatment helps as well as the ointment but I don’t think it made it go away. I really am not sure what actually makes it leave and just hope it doesn’t come back. Hope yours goes fast. Yes I was so depressed and felt terrible I couldn't  do much as even walking around was so uncomfortable. It has been a miserable summer.

      Good luck.

    Hi Gillian

I have lichen Planus of the Vulva for three years. I have been using organic coconut oil down there first thing in the  morning & night time before I go to bed.

In order to wear pants I always put coconut oil then fold three soft napkins put between down there & my underwear then wear anything I like but make sure wash yourself whenever you go to bathroom. Try to take bottle

Water with you to bathroom & wash yourself with that every time.

I got the organic coconut oil from Costco & it has been great for me. I hope that can help you as well.

Please let me know how was for you?

    If it was any help.

    Good luck.

Yes, Mary,      I agree with the use of coconut oil to be used every day or a Vitamin E oil,  it's good to use something that soothes in between breakouts.  Thank you for verifying that someone else found this helpful!  I think I am getting a flare-up because my Vulvar feels like it's burning up, EWW, I hope not!

GILLIAN, my Dr. gave me a prescription for CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE, which is a steroid gel. The only thing is when you use it only 2twice a day or the Vulvar will thin out.  You know I have a Holistic practitioner who told me that LP is a fungal disease + puts me on, Candida Supplements if I have a terrible breakout. Also, I use a gel named SilverGel which is a made from Colloidal Silver it is so cooling + helps so much. The other gel above only used when you have a breakout.  So this is another way maybe to be able to keep this Monster away!

Lichen planus isn't a fungal infection but thrush can appear as well because of the damage it causes. If you Google (is LP fungal) you can read about it !xx
