Link between food allergies / intolerances ,digestive problems and LS

Is it common to suffer with food allergies / intolerances ,digestive problems and LS

    Hi All, After a few months of STRICTLY gluten free, coffee free and removing OATS from my diet the LS has virtually disappeared and the skin returned to normal/no stinging/no itching. This did take a couple of months before results showed. I had previously been prescribed steroid cream by my GP which didn't work and had suffered from LS for 3-4 years. Wheat intolerant for 15 years and have have also suffered other autoimmune contains eg. Perioral dermatitis, chronic hives. I do believe there is also a thyroid link but have been tested and results "normal".Interestingly yesterday I ate a couple of gluten free oatcakes made with palm oil and have a mild flare up today so back to strictly no oats again as so great to be free from this awful condition. Sharing in the hope this might help others 😍

    I never had any allergies before but about 2 - 3 years before I was diagnosed I started decelopibg allergies. I am suspicious that it was a precursor to the LS. It started with aloe, then the sun, then grass, dustmites and moulds. This past year I started noticing difestive issues so I saw a homeopath/naturopath (I'm not sure of the distinction) last spring who performed a complete NAET and meridian test on me. This revealed that I have a 'leaky gut' and am pre-diabetic. Additionally were a list of food sensitivites as long as your arm. Surprisingly gluten didn't make it to the list but wheat did, as well deli meats, tomatoes, myshrooms, and mozzarella cheese. Make no wonder pizza kills me!

      I just did some research and here's something I found interesting...

      There is a correlation between LS and yeast. Since yeast needs sugar to thrive this would explain why reducing sugar intake is helpful .

      It is estimated that:

      -1.2 million Canadians have food sensitivities

      -3,440 Canadian women have LS.

      Therefore, prevalence of LS patients with food sensitivities could be coincidental. However, there is no disputing people's experiences.

      I think, Lisa, that the omitting of certain foods, like sugar, gluten, alcohol, dairy and other, is not about having a food sensitivity.  It sooner, in my opinion, is about: What 'feeds' LS.  

      When I eat a piece of cheese, for instance, I 'wake up' my LS.  How easy it is to avoid cheese and keep LS at bay therefore.

    Nah! I have no food allergies and there have been no convincing evidence to support this. I ran it past my specialists when people are putting up stuff about things they put on it and food allergies, etc. Their comment is that there is no evidence to support this. 

    It does no harm and if people believe it helps then there is a point to it but not for me! 

    The only thing that works for me is being diligent with my Advantan fatty ointment which means applying it thoroughly every evening before going to bed.

    That keeps it at bay and under control!
