Linx Procedure

i have an appointment to see a surgeon to confirm I'm a good candidate for the Linx procedure and to schedule a date for the operation. I have read many reviews both positive and negative in regard to this procedure and I am unable to find any medical reviews or trial reviews on this procedure that are recent. I'm choosing this procedure because I'm fearful of the Nissan fundaplication as the previous surgeon told me some of my symptoms will get better with that procedure but some will get worse but can't tell me which will be worse. Please if any of you have had either of these procedures either recently or many years ago please share your experiences, outcomes and quality of life.
thank you

We don't even have that procedure in Canada - at least you have an option

Hello Frank,
My name is John and I had a 360 degree wrap in 1993, which was never 100% successful. I have been on a maintenance dose of 10mg of Omeprazole since the op. Recently I've had some severe symptoms and been to see a consultant. I've had a camera, ph and oesophageal function test and get the results 07/09.
To be honest I would do things very differently if I'm told I need the op re-doing. Firstly I would research the surgeon and find the most skilled guy possible, from what I've read the percentage of success is definitely linked to ability of the surgeon here.
I'm not a candidate for the LINX as I've already had the wrap and I'm really not trying to worry you, but this is what I was told . I read up on the LINX before my surgeon told me I wasn't eligible for it. He told me there are a lot of issues with this procedure , whilst it's less invasive, if you have allergies to certain metals used in the beads it can cause problems. As can the band itself (being foreign matter) it can cause an erosive action within your gullet.
I hope all goes well for you. I suspect like me your paying for this procedure and I'm not trying to cast aspersions on your surgeon here, but ask about the above. None of the procedures are something anyone would want, but in my humble opinion the wrap only uses parts of you, where as the LINX introduces foreign objects to your body. Anyway good luck.
Sorry if this isn't put together too well but I'm typing it on my iPhone in a lay-by, not easy when you're half blind with fat fingers!!
