Can anyone describe the pain they had after a lateral internal sphincterectomy surgery while recovering?

    I've had two.

First one I had, no pain after surgery because the surgeon had made such a small cut. Thus the surgery failed.

Second LIS, recovery was very painful but the surgery was successful. Pain peaked at day 3 but eventually calmed down. I was out of the worst pain after a week and everything calmed down after 2 weeks. it took over 7 weeks for the incision and the fissure to heal. though it still took several months for the pain to go away.

so even if you're not feeling perfect after 6 weeks, don't worry. it could just be that the scar tissue needs more time to heal.
