Lisfranc injury, one year later

So last year, I broke my first metatarsal and had surgery to put a plate and two screws into my foot. I did not go through physical therapy, but I did everything else the doctor said to do to a T.

One year later from the time between the break to the surgery, my foot is still not back to its normal shape and size (I have to wear a wide shoe on my foot), I still have to wear an ankle brace when I spend a lot of time on my foot (my ankle has never been the same since it was kept still in the boot for months on end), and I still have lots of pain when I overuse my foot (I am a teacher and a cleaner, so I spend a lot of time on my feet).

Does anyone else have experience with this kind of an injury? Will my foot ever go back to a normal size? And will the pain ever get better? Any help with this would be amazing. I'm desperate for any kind of success stories that anyone might have. Thank you everyone!

try and get some massage on the foot  with essential oils.. Slow process may be painful and ache in the cold damp months.. The hot weather may cause it to  swell..if you are on your feet a lot it may take a lot longer .. You need to rest the foot up on a stool periodically..

anti inflammatory drugs.. Sadly the foot won't be like pre break state... And you will get pain if conditions are wrong it's something you may have to adapt to. Try warm bean bags on it may help if it aches.... Hope this helps...
