Online radio
Many of today's jobs take place in front of a computer screen in and in a room full of cubicles. Although lack of privacy means you have to keep singing aloud to a minimum, access to a computer means you have every available genre of music available to you in the form of online radio stations.
"I would strongly recommend everyone listen to music at work, if possible," . "It really lightens up the day and makes the time go by a bit faster. And most importantly, you are entertained for a long stretch of time doing a job that may not be so entertaining."
The science of music
Listening to music at work can be more than just fun for some people. According to Peter Quily, adult Attention Deficit Disorder coach, music can have a physiological effect on his patients who suffer from adult ADD. According to Quily, listening to music boosts the levels of neurotransmitter dopamine, a brain chemical that can help people focus.
Some of Quily's clients listen to music when they can't focus or when they're performing a task they find boring. People who have ADHD often have dopamine levels that are low or quickly used up, and the music is a welcome help.
Listen responsibly
If you like to listen to music at work, here are some tips to keep in mind:
•I would get a Ipod and hide it away, just be descrete. Also listening to music can change your state of mind, causing changes in mood and productivity. Using music as a tool is an easy thing anyone can do to make themselves smarter and happier.
Alternatively speak to your boss explain your situation and howthe music helps.

I have the very exact opposite problem to you - I simply cannot abide having the radio on when working. I used to really enjoy being a secretary but no longer work in that field as having to put up with the tinny sound of colleagues radios whilst trying to type, construct sentences and make sense was very destracting and made me unfocussed and very irritable, especially when it wasn't just music but that inane chatter that goes on inbetween songs
As I say I gave up working in an office environment a few years ago and whilst I have to endure music in my current employment my job isn't as exacting and I don't have to concentrate hard so I find it much easier now, however I'm back to minimum wage doing a mind numbing job.
Despite my hate of the radio whilst at work I love music and play it as loud as I can when driving and at home.
