Liver cancer stmptoms

I have had some slight discomfort right under my rib on my right side at random times throughout the day. I’ve also had loose stools and some nausea that only occurs in the morning. The tummy issues have been going on (and actually getting better) for just over two weeks. Could these be symptoms of something going on with my liver? I’m seeing my general physician in two days and want to make sure I ask the right questions or if there are certain liver function tests that I should ask for. Thanks!!!

That happens to me as well. I'm a PBC stage 2. Some days it's worse and others it's good. But those are almost word for word my symptoms.

But that being said...sometimes my husband has those symptoms and he doesn't have loved problems. I would say it better safe to ask than not.

      Hi Marty!

What were your first symptoms when you knew something was wrong? How long did it take and how were you diagnosed?

    Hi Rebecca,

They could be symptoms of a liver issue, but they could also be nothing. You doctor will most likely do a single LFT (liver function test) which gives the result of several liver enzymes and it's functionality (ALT, AST, SGOT, Bilirubin to name a few).

I had cirrhosis and have had a liver transplant 6 years ago, but get the occasional twinge in that area. Try not to worry until the results come back.

I think liver cancer (judging by the title) is a bit of a massive jump!! If you're really that worried about cancer, discuss in depth with the doctor and detail lifestyle (not implying you do these) but smoking, drinking, drugs, food habits etc. You can ask for an AFP (Alfa fetoprotein) test. It "can be" a hepatic cancer indicator, but not always.

Don't panic!! Hope it's all fine.
