Liver issues

Back in 2008 I was told I had an enlarged fatty liver and to lose weight. Nothing was ever done. Now in 2014 I had an ultrasound done for my kidneys but they scanned my liver and said it was enlarged, coarse, and exhogenic possible fatty liver. Nothing has been done. Now today I've had some blood work done by a nuerologist and my copper and ceruloplasmin levels are high along with my tgf-b1. From what I have researched high copper and high ceruloplasmin could mean PBC. I see my primary care physician in a few days and will ask him questions too. Just wondering if I should be worried. Thanks for any advice

Hi heidi, & copper elevations are rare and rarely tested, so it's a good thing your neuro had uncovered this.

I'm not well read on this issue, but you might want to research "Wilson's Disease" as this is a possibility and something you'll want to talk with your doc about.

Other causes for copper elevation are: Copper coil IUD's (Paragard IUD).  Oral/hormonal birth control is also supposed to elevate copper over time (extended use), and even some tattoo inks contain large amounts of copper.

Zinc supplements are typically used to push elevated copper levels down, but you MUST do this in a controlled manner, with monitoring and guidance from medical professionals.

Hope this helps, and hope you get some effective treatment soon!

I have to say that you should not be worried until you know what is wrong. Could be PBC is not the same as is PBC.  Unless you are medically trained you need to be very careful about googling symptoms.
