Livial I love you!

:D I have been taking Livial for 4 months now and it has really changed my life. At 52, and not having had a period for 18 months, I was suffering terribly with night sweats which woke me on the hour, I was totally sleep deprived and unable to function at work. I was also depressed and had absolutely no interest in sex. I can honestly say that I have not had one hot flush either during the day or night since taking it, my mood is balanced and I can't get enough sex! My weight has stayed exactly the same and my only compaint is that it is a bit expensive. I will certainly keep taking it for as long as I am able, I have done my research extensively and have found no reason to stop.

I was prescribed this over a week ago and have yet to commence with the treatment I am so scared about side effects. Reading these comments has helped.  Has anyone experienced a problem with facial hair, this too worries me!

I have been on Livial for over 6 years now and have no problems at all. I find it easy to maintain a good weight and have no facial hair (well none that I can see!). My head hair has thickened up nicely and my nails grow really fast and strong. Prior to this HRT my head hair was thinning slightly and my fingernails were soft and splitting. My only slight bit of concern was a little vaginal spotting which was fully investigated by scan and was probably only because I had missed a couple of doses. All other menopausal symptoms (and I had them all, in spades!) are nicely controlled. Unless someone tells me I have to give it up, I am sticking with my HRT and with Livial in particular. So I would give it at least a 3 month trial if I were you. If the difference is worth it, then this HRT may be the one for you. Best wishes.

Thank you for your reply, I am certainly going to give it a good trial and so far like the slight changes I am experiencing with less hot flushes and more sleep!  I am conscious that I have to keep my diet in check, it's easy to blame medication!!

    Hi

i have to agree about livial. I was almost on the verge of losing my job because of the lack of concentration caused by the sweats, flushes etc. started on livial 15 months ago, and have never looked back. Yes I have put on some weight, probably about a stone in that time but I have also been more socially active than I had been for about 5 years as I had become almost a recluse due to the flushes etc. and now my husband and I go out a couple of times a week, so maybe ten weight comes from that. But my mental agility is better than it has been for about 15 years. I did have aches and pains for the first 3 months or so but that passed. All in all I will try to stay on livial for as long as I can. My GP prescribes it on the NHS so there is no reason for you to find it expensive.

    hope this helps

Ok so been on Livial for nearly 3 weeks.  By day 3 my energy levels were much better, hot flushes still with me day and night but I have to say they are not as fierce as they were and I am managing around 2 hrs unbroken sleep where I was waking every half hour or so!  I have arthritis in my hands and had a flare up just before commencing the drug, it hasn't helped that problem at all.  I have had a bit of bleeding but am due to go back to my GP next week so will discuss this with him.  I haven't put any weight on so far!  I don't think 3 weeks is enough time to be sure if this is the drug for me, but I am encouraged with the slight changes so far.  Thank you to all who post on this site, it helps so much.

I, like you was struggling at work.  We are about to move offices to the City and I will have a long commute by public transport each day so needed to do something to help me cope.  My hot flushes were terrible and some night I was waking every half hour.  I changed my diet after Christmas and lost 9 kilos and so far have maintained this weightloss and feel much better for it.  After the 3rd day on Livial, my energy levels increased.  I am on week 4 now and flushes are less often and I am sleeping a bit better, only waking a couple of times a night.  I live in Melbourne so we have to pay for our medications, around $56 so it is quite expensive given that I am on  mess for thyroid too.  I am hopeful that this hormone replacement will be the right one for me, it is still too early to be sure.

Need a bit of positive support here. Age 43 - Started Livial 5 days ago. Am seriously feeling nothing yet. In early meno since 2007 - age 37. Tried various HRT's, they didn't agree with me. Then went cold turkey for the past 2/3 years in the hope that I would get through it & the nightmare would end. Got a period 11mths later and although meno symptoms had decreased, they kicked straight back in after day 1 of period and I finally gave up and visited very nice Gynae. He said coz I'm too young, I will have these symptoms until the natural age of meno 50-55 and going cold turkey was basically a waste of my time pain and effort.

Can anyone and everyone please tell me when it kicked in for them. I've only seen one post where after 4 days, energy had increased. I'm feeling quite depressed, actually very depressed but it could be a combination of meno, waiting on HRT to kick in, increased symptoms & lack of sleep blah blah blah...the usual

Hi Danielle I think you should give it up to 3 months before you decide whether Livial is of benefit to you. Take it every day at the same time and try not to focus on symptoms for, say a week, after which you can have a first review of any changes. Good luck!

Thanks T for reply. Doesn't seem to be a busy thread. I am now on it one week and I will admit that I have had my first 2hrs of unbroken sleep for the past two nights. It actually made me look forward to going to bed, which for years I have dreaded so fingers crossed.

As I'm impatient...I wanted to get a sense of when Livial started to work for people. I know everybody is different but need something to look forward to. Is it safe to say that after one month, it should have kicked in?

My energy levels still good compared to before I started Livial. Still a few hot flushes but more like warm flushes! Still waking through the night a couple of times, but this could be the changes in my working life causing the sleeplessness at the moment.  My GP wants me to give it 6 months to work, apparently he has several patients taking Livial and all of them swear by it.

Hi Deb, Seeing as you've still got hot flushes, how long are you on Livial now....says she flaring at the moment wanting these damn things to be gone & my brain to be back to what it was.

I have no problem taking Livial hoping it will work. At this point, I'd take arsenic if they told me I'd get back to my normal self!!

This is week 7, had a few hot flushes today and put on 1 kilo so will have to try and get rid of that! Definitely noticed I want to eat more, still hopeful that things will continue to improve by 3 months.

Can you remember at what week your hot flushes disappeared mine decreased but the last couple of nights have come back and I am waking every hour and a half. I am now on week seven!!!

      Hi,

Mine completely stopped around week 10. And that was after I found that taking the livial around 8.30pm really made a difference. Instead of taking it 1st thing in the morning.

      Hope it helps.

I am taking it around 730 in the evening. I am still hopeful that things will get better.

Maybe try taking it around an hour before bedtime so that it is at full strength when you go to bed.

Delighted to see the replies here about timing of tablet as I wondered myself did it make a difference (despite the leaflet saying you can take it at any time). I am taking it in the morning so am going to take my tablet an hour later each day until I get up to 9pm as presumably I cannot go from taking it at 10am today to 9pm tomorrow?

I have to say that is exactly what I did .. Probably not recommended -  but I did without any dire effects

      Tracy,

Am going to take a chance and not take it this morning and just take it tonight. The thoughts of another 12 days before I'd eventually get up to night time don't enthrall me whatsoever!!

Go for it and try to relax into it. When I first started taking livial I went to my doc with all sorts of questions and he said to that whilst livial was good it was miracle and that I should also look at ways that I could try to relax consciously for at least 10 minutes every day - doesn't sound much but it is so hard to find those 10 mins twice a day but I try and when I can do it - it helps!

Hi I was told by my doctor that you should take the pill in the morning first thing as it gives makes you feel more energetic.  If you take it at night it can effect your sleep and keep you awake? Has anyone else heard this?
