    Dear Sal

I feel sorry for you. I'm no medical expert but I will let you know what I have done.

I too had terrible hot flushes at night. I refused the HRT and looked on the internet for an alternative. My answer (which worked) was Chlonidine. This is a blood pressure tablet but if you look on the Australian menopause sites, they recommend this to widen the tolerance again to cold/heat. I now take three a night but gradually increased the dose to the three by taking one extra every two weeks.

I am also suffering with joint pain (hands, feet and knees). This is dreadful so I am off to a Rheumatologist in Feb. I have seen links with menopause and Fibromyalgia on the internet.

Finally I take fibo gel for constipation which works.

Ask you doc over getting a thyroid test.

    Hope you get sorted soon.

    Kind regards

The symptoms you are having are classic menopause symptoms. I don't believe the doctor should have taken you off hrt, you should probably have been given a higher dose and perhaps a more natural hrt such as a gel or patch with progesterone tablets. Ask for a hormone test. I started hrt 3 weeks ago estrogel and progesterone and have been steadily increasing. Aches, headaches and flushes mostly gone.

Thanks for the replies... I've been on patches for a year an a half... but there is concerns about my bones... so thats why they tried Tibolone /Livial. Now I'm on nothing. Feel very emotional, mardy, tired in the day, hot alllllllllllllllllnight, they're not interested in seeing me at doctors. They did do a thyroid blood test but got to wait for results. Not a very good start to the year... feeling very frumpy as the weigh gain was rediculous... it has stopped now... but to gain 20 odd pounds in one week was scary... I could see my ankles, boobs :O getting bigger by the second.

Just not sure what to do now... I've sort of been abandoned

Er hot foot it back to docs - book a double appointment if you have to, and go through all your symptoms and don't leave until they've explained it all to your satisfaction and you have a treatment plan.

I tried today, I phoned for my Thyroid test results... which are normal... and asked the receptionist what happens now... and the reply was your bloods are normal the doctor hasn't requested to see you so that's it. I do feel better after having a mini breakdown... lots of tears and frustration. So I guess I'm in this alone. I'm going to investigate some home remedies

Don't listen to a receptionist is my advise! See your dr and ask for a referral to a menopause clinic/specialist. It's a huge battle I know, especially when you feel rubbish. I have tried my share of herbals, acupuncture etc etc. I do hope you start to feel better soon. I used to get whisked out the door before I could even get my thoughts straight. Now I write everything down before I go for an appointment to make sure I remember everything.

    Good luck
