Living in fear

Hi all. I've recently been told I am probably suffering from condochondritis, but with no clear tests for diagnosis I am finding it hard to accept that's what I have.

I have health anxiety and am constantly in fear that I have something seriously wrong.

Does anyone else suffer with pain even on resting and in the back and side ribs? I feel as though I am in pain 24/7 and its massively affecting my anxiety πŸ˜”

Any help or reassurance would be great fully received

Hi Emma! I have never been diagnosed with costochondritis but I do have sore spots on my spine as well as pain in my floating ribs on the left side. I have never really had it looked at but worry about it constantly. The pain jn my ribs is right on the tips of maybe the 10-12th rib. They are extremely sore to the touch. This is probably not much help to you but wanted you to feel that you arent alone πŸ˜ƒ

I was diagnosed with costochondritis and like you have found it hard to believe because my doctor just pushed on my ribs and told me that's what I have. I have pain that moves all over the right side of my ribs and into my back and a burning pain behind my right breast. So to answer your question, I do have pain all over. I'm worried constantly that I have breast cancer that has went to my ribs and my liver, and that's what is causing my pain. But I've had this for 2 years so logically that's probably not it. It's just my health anxiety getting the best of me.

Sorry to read you are going through this anxiety too Mandy. It's horrible isn't it?! I have only had this pain for 9 weeks so feel for you having it for 2 years 😒

Do you suffer daily? I feel the pain constantly and that is what adds to my anxiety

I don't feel it constantly but I do feel it several times a day. My ribs are mostly sore feeling but sometimes I get stabbing pains in spots too. It scares me to death every time. I also can't pinpoint exactly what made mine start or even when it started.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this too. I wouldn't wish this worry on anyone.

I feel pain on the side of my breast too and the other day I had a burning pain behind my breast. I don't ever know if my pain is from costo or something else. I just had a mammogram and ultrasound that both came back clear but I still worry that it could be a tumor on the chest wall and they're missing it. It's made my anxiety so much worse.

try not to worry I'm sure your fine

I'm sorry that you have this . I gave had it for about 15 years and there is no test that can confirm it. but it is what it saids it is . at one time you hit or pulled muscles in your sternum. and if you think back it will come to you. my wanes . I can go for a long time with out it hurting me than all of a sudden. it shocks me and leaves me breathless . certain ways you move might throw it off. all I can say is take and put your fingers over the pain light rub and breath in threw your nose and out your mouth heating pad heating rub. aspirin. relax. anxiety makes it worse m y acid reflux will throw it off to. its not a disease. its a damage muscle and the bone rubs plainly over the other one . very painful. but there's treatment as what I said to do .good luck
