Living with herpes.

hi it's been 6 years since the event

quickly .. my ex had herpes I didn't know what herpes was very naive looking back .

I was with him 2 years I never caught it off him we didn't use protection either yet I never caught it off him .

but 4 years after we split I caught this off a one night stand on holiday when I was rather ill with BPD .

6 years on I sometimes forget about it but I'm to embarrassed to tell a bloke if I met one ..

its stopped me having a realtionship which at 36 I want kids but when I hear jokes about herpes or disgusting reactions on TV

it makes it more harder .

these people that gave us this need hell if they never told you my ex did tell me but I never caught it off my ex .

I suffer once a year maybe twice if stressed.

I only get one sore usually bikini line .

I dont believe any tablets help it's like a cold sore on your lips you can out avicor cream on all day long but it doesn't speed anything up a cold sore needs to scab and that takes days .

I often wondered if there was a forum like this at least you know your not alone .

the jokes are annoying and it makes it difficult to date because s**t who wants to tell ppl about this disease and you worry if they will tell others. There are dating sites for herpes positive ppl. Can you and your ex work things out ? I believe life does go on. Altho im afraid to date because i dont want to tell ppl i know ppl with it and they are happily married with children.

    Hey,

I’m sorry your feeling like this! The jokes and stigma people bring up about genital hsv are the worst! There is no difference between oral or genital and they come with the same risk!

What you need to ask your self is do the opinions of strangers and people who have no input in your life really bother you. It’s hard but you need to try not let it effect you! So many people are accepting of genital herpes.

If someone isn’t willing to love you due to something as minor as this then they ain’t worth you time and don’t deserve you! You are not your diagnosis.

If you are confident and educated people you can give people the facts which really helps. Given you have it 6yrs your viral shedding will be really low and given your outbreaks are very low during the year your body seems to have control over it!

Tablets do help and have been proven to decrease shedding and transmission rates. From personal experience I’ve found them so beneficial to me.

If you let this control your life then it’s won! You can be your ex isn’t sitting around not enjoy life so why should you 😃

just when i was starting to come to terms with this diagnosis, i was watching Tv (yesterday) and the joke was "We share a toilet so dont be out there having unprotected sex unless you are trying to give me herpes." what are the odds that as soon as i turn it on, i hear that. I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago and it gets easier
