Living with Osteoporosis

I broke my back last December and discovered I have osteoporosis.  I am moving around very carefully as frightened of another break.  Has anyone else gone through this?

I was diagnosed with osteoporosis a couple of weeks ago and yes, I have started to be afraid and very careful when I move. I am trying to get my head round it and keep telling myself to act as normal, but just be more careful in wet weather. Have you seen a specialist yet?

    Hi

Well what I've had was a fracture in my greater trochantor bone {topof hip} four weeks post op hip replacement.

I had a DEXA and yes ...Osteoporosis

I'm on crutches for the rest of my life so yes like you I'm a bit scared.....in wet weather, wet leaves etc etc

Have you had any improvement in your bone density with your treatment? I wish I could offer advice but I'm new to all this. Sometimes, I think that it is comforting to know that you are not alone.

Hi all, I don't have breaks and fractures but deal with osteoarthritis most of my adult life and with age, osteopenia has set in but I but I believe that happens with aging.....

Vit D3 and K2 are Vital....are you optimal with these in your levels.....SO MANY are deficient with Vit D.   Magnesium is critical with bone health also....there are many bone supports and I trust them more than I do the drugs...    Good luck.   J

      Hi Joy

I had osteopinia for a long time before having osteoporosis

I was OK then....I did fracture a toe but nothing serious. It was when it became osteoporosis that it becamemore serious

Hope you keep on with no breaks or fractures when it becomes ostoporosis

      Love

Will be having another scan next summer but my Vit D level has risen from 19 to 68 so something is working.
