Living with the pain/itch for 3 weeks

Hi all, I was diagnosed by my GP who gave me a cream to stop the itch until I could get into a Gynocologist for confirmation and treatment plan.  Between then and seeing the Gyno it cleared up with the cream.  It's now been 6 months and it's back so I've made an appoitment with the Gyno however I can't get into her for 3 weeks and she doesn't want me to use anything on my Vulva between now and then.  How do I live with it, the itching is driving me crazy and waking me at night......any help will be appreciated.

I am having a flare-up at the moment also and have found that taking 1/2 of an over the counter Benadryl helps me sleep at night.  Reducing the itch and accompanying stress seem to help along with solid sleep.

Hi - you can't suffer for 3 weeks! Maybe call back and explain that you really need to have it under control. I would be doing anything I could to stop the itch - it really is unbearable. Have you tried salt and water or baking soda and water spritz or baths? Also Sudacreme that is used on babies. All really help.

whereabouts in Australia are you? I'm in Brisbane

Hi Deb, I'm in Shepparton which is 2 hours north of Melbourne, the home of SPC!   The itch is waking me of a night and I'm scratching in my sleep so bad It's causing welts and bleeding.  I might call back and see if they can at least speak to my gyno to see what she can do for me in the interim.  I haven't tried the bath might try that tonight after work.  I was taking a zyrtec and it was working at controlling the itch however I've had to stop as it was making me drowzy at work, can't win.  Thanks for you advice.

Hi, I'm in Toowoomba.  I find that using medihoney which is available at the chemist provides relief.  Some suggest using manuka or jellybush honey 20+ which is good but expensive.  I was given an already mixed manuka therapeutic skin cream 20+ in an aqueous base.  It stings a bit on first application.  I can message you the brand.

Please let us know what she/ he says! You poor thing! Sometimes I use ice cubes to break the itching cycle. Ask for lidocaine ointment. Although it may sting a little,( depending on how raw your skin is), it numbs you and you get to take a break from the itch and the pain.

Over the counter vagisil does help some, do not get hot, u can also sleep by a fan and no underwear. Room temp salt water bath, I love to swim in salt water pool or ocean when mine flares, burns at first but next time feels sooooo good. That's crazy to wait so long. I had to go to urgent care and beg for a script of clobetasol. My doc could still tell I was in a flair up after I used it for 2 weeks

What kind of cream are you using until you can see your doctor? I've been advised by my doctor that creams/ointments, even steroids will not harm the vulva and you can apply certain products there if needed. But you really should call the doctor's office and yell at them until they can squeeze you in--or find another doctor if the irritation is that severe. It sounds like you need a powerful steroid ointment.
