Living without a colon

Hi folks,

10 years ago I was diagnosed with Colitis although more recently my consultant seems to think it may be Crohn's (they cannot tell as I have unusual symptoms). Five years ago I had to have a total procto colectomy where my colon was removed and a pouch reconstructed from my small intestine. Has anyone else had this surgery? I have never met anyone who has. I have had the pouch for five years and it works well but I sometimes struggle having to go to the loo all the time. I was wondering do folks have tips to minimise this?

Hi, my mom does not have Crohn's but she has to have an ileostomy bag for other reasons. There are ileostomy groups you should try. If you don't find one on Patient Info, try Facebook.
