Location of assessment of memory - does it make a difference?

If I am a patient suffering from memory loss - does it make a difference if I am in a different place than I am used to? Would I get a worse score if I was not in my home or hometown region? If I travel into unfamiliar areas, will this have an impact on my memory loss? Wondering if it will progress faster because of being in a new area and new surroundings.

People suffering from memory loss don't cope well with being in unfamiliar places, and might well score a bit lower if they'd just moved, or had had a confusing journey getting to the place where they were taking the test.
However, this partly depends on how far advanced the condition is. Someone with mild memory loss wouldn't be nearly as badly affected as someone with severe cognitive problems.
I'm not really sure whether it's you we're talking about or whether your questions are hypothetical. If it's you, I hope you're able to get the support you need.

That being said, I did originally train as a nurse many years ago, and specialised in neuro nursing. I only stayed in the profession for 10 years though, giving up more than 40 years ago. More recently I've had 9 years' experience in caring for my mother and another 5 of looking after a friend, both of whom had vascular dementia. And I'm now starting to be concerned about my own cognitive problems.
