Lodged complaint against my surgeon

Posted , 6 users are following.

I'm in So. Cal. and the OS who did my Anterior replacement came highly recommended by 3-4 people who had success, they said back in 2010 before I opted for the surgery.

I went ahead and have been left with Femoral Nerve Damage, IT Band damage and leg discrepancy.....it's been a mess....but no Groin Pain which is what pushed me to do this surgery.

I have lodged my comments on a review site here called Yelp, maybe it's all over, I don't know.....

Well, today, another person responded to my comments with this:

((((“Hi there, Joy.. I know this is random, but I have the EXACT same problem with Dr. ***. He replaced my hip two years ago, I have been in horrible pain ever since, especially in my groin area. My hip is in worse pain now than it was before.

Also, my leg is nearly an inch longer on one side!! What is this guy doing? Just thought I'd let you know that you're not the only one he's done this to.

Oh, and two other doctors I've seen have said the surgery wasn't even necessary! That's just scary if true.))))

“Now I wonder even MORE if the replacement was necessary!!!!!

Joy for some reason I mistook yr post. You need to be speaking to that person to consolidate yr experiences.  I understood supplements but clearly yrs is a much more complex issue. Do it.

    Joy ..

found UR complaint. Ok .. Sorry bout UR knee is another issue too. Both mine have OA as well as back problems and struggling with after care and rehab made them worse..

It took me 2 years to recover the first to.. Still working on the second.

Give it time and PT AN HELP WITH TEACHING MOVEMENTS. Also build tendon up after surgery my IT BAND had micro tears and that takes a long agonizing time to heal.

How's UR femur pain what r they doing for you?

    stay strong..biggrin

The Karen C person got back to me and now we're trying to figure out how to connect via email. Not sure if Yelp allows emails to be posted. Gotta try to talk to Yelp somehow.

      Glad they penetrated security!

Just read that tramadol being re categorised by both uk and USA.  They noting that.withdrawals and side effects are serious.  I had terrible time reducing dose from loads to only 75-150mg pd. Then recently calling A&E for mother of all headaches 48hrs duration. Possibly related to tramadol. Nothing else works as it has effect on serotonin levels acting like an anti depressant and euphoria inducing too. Also may have caused peripheral neuropathy. I always thought it too gd to be true. Cannot take NSAID nor codeine but cant get to a class without min 37.5mg.

All gd things come to an end. Side effects now outweigh benefits. Im going to try low dose amitriptyline at night instead.

I guess we all have to take what suits us by trial and error. My operated side now less painful than good hip which is far from good and will be next but will avoid THAT as long as poss.....

We may meet or if not talk on the phone...I'm doing searchs on most common unnecessary surgeries....

Hip and Knee Replacements are among them...Back Surgery and Fusions also.

I'm reading my Operative Report and thinking more back 4 yrs ago.

I am so sorry for you joy and others with the same issues.  I would be furious if i were in that situation.  Mine was not perfect either and i am learning, thanks to you, not to complain about it.  Yes, i still have a numb front thigh that has gotten a little better since the surgery and i have no doubt that the remainder numbness is there permanently;  my 1 inch leg discrepancy was corrected with the second THR although the gait and hip flexion are not what i think it should be, i am just grateful i experience no pain whatsoever and that my hip problems are visible only by me.  Keep hope alive.

kaleani, that Numbness aka nerve damage, I guess that's what it is....wouldn't one also call it inflammation? That is how I see it, feel it...often that area is warm, but I don't believe infected..I've never had a fever since replacement.

I posted about the rash I've gotten on that area and how I think it's the homeopathic cream I use pulling out the inflammation, toxins in that area....this cream has 11 remedies for 11 different pain issues including post surgical issues... .

      Homeopathy is "likes cures likes"....

Adding a like solution to the issue to cure the issue.

I use other homeopathics and one for my sleep and do believe in this ancient healing practice.

I use a pendulum and ask it a lot of questions about my body and what is going on. It's all energy work and our body is so smart.

I forgot about this thread so here is my latest on the 2nd opinion NEED...

I finally connected with a young woman who had the Anterior by the same surgeon as me....she was 40 (YOUNG) at her surgery and believes NOW that she should NOT have done it....the surgeon who did our work pushed her for it in spite of the young age and the need down the road for revisions...she has a 2-1/2 yr old who she has a very hard time keeping up with since her replacement 2 yrs. ago

Her surgery leg is longer, mine is shorter....it seems her only resolve would be a revision NOT what she ever thought she'd be going thru.

The Surgeon NEVER mentioned the leg discrepancy possibility....nor to me either....

She has seen 2 other surgeons since and one would not comment much nor talk against the surgeon, they don't do that....

The other surgeon told her he would have never done a replacement....not truly needed....

She now knows how guilable she was to have done this traumatic surgery....she is worse off now since replacement....

Just saying.....so many young people here doing this....

Really very disturbing how surgeons love to do surgery, needed or not.

I don't know how your MD's are paid in your country but MOST here make a LOT of money......

I know in China the doctors are govt paid, maybe so in the UK too.
