Long lasting ear pressure from a cold

I'm a 20 year old male who has been suffering from never ending ear pressure. Back 3-4 years I had a severe cold where I lost most of my ability to hear on the right ear. After a month of being clogged, I was finally able to pop it, but the pop didn't fully unclog it, thus giving me a strange sensation of having my ears muffled. When I try to pop my ear, I get a sensation like I would try to inflate my ears, but nothing really happens, I cannot equalize ear pressure even when I am diving.

The problem is also that it feels like the ear has some sort of filter over it, not allowing certain frequencies to be heard(they are heard but not as loud as they should be). When I close my left ear, I can hear how some frequencies fade away(High freq) and this is very irritating if you cannot preform your job because of it. I am a music producer and would be in dire help, any tricks or tips on how to get this sorted would be highly appreciated.

(I tried to go to a ear doctor, but he decided that I hear fine and that I am used to my ear being this way or that It is just a habit of hearing this way, but I am certain that it is a solvable problem, as it began with a cold)
