Long term anal fissures

Ive been experiencing a long term anal fissure. ive had it for over 12 months. It has recently gotten more painful. Im interested to know if there are any other people out there healing long term fissures? Also has anyone opted for the boxtox. Ive tried it once but the fissure returned. Has anyone experienced any long term incontinence from the botox?

I haven't had botox done but I had the Kenalog Protocol done March 14th in NYC. I doubt any other place does this. I'm still in agony. 2 months out a no real hope of healing completely. I'm thinking of Sphincterotomy for my next surgery. I rather deal with a little leakage than horrible pain. I hope you find what works best for you. God willing some sort of treatment helps us.

I'm so sorry that your surgery left you with such mental anguish. I just don't know what else to do. its either lots of time and babying that area or step through more hoops in Hope's of a great Solution. if I ever find one I promise to share that with everyone here. Feels like spinning the wheel of fate.

I too had a fissure for over a year. I ended up getting a Sphincter-otomy because it would just not heal . I had instant relief. Thankfully that cured my fissure. Unfortunately for me tho, 2 months after the surgery, I started getting another kind of pain. Unlike the pain we all know a fissure to be like. It took months to get back into my specialist and they wanted to do an exploratory to see what was up. That took another year to get done and by then the pain was unbearable. I was taking 8 extra strength Tylenol a day for 6 months. Anyway, to make a long story short, I was diagnosed with Anal Cancer. The "other" pain was a tumor. I had it removed and did chemo and radiation and I'm now as good as new. It seems I was very lucky to have had 2 years of excruciating pain as they never would have found the cancer if it had not been for that. I never thought I'd be thankful for those 2 horror filled years, but I am...
